Dispel Magic and AoE effects
Enemy casts Sirocco. Hits nearly everyone.
I got this. I cast Greater Dispel Magic (Point) on the center of Sirocco.

I dispel like 8 effects. Sirocco was never checked.

Like... how are you supposed to deal with these AoE effects. With Sirocco you just die completely if you fail a save, so not being able to dispel it is super stupid (almost as stupid as the spell, which has always been a crap, jank spell imo).

If I'm doing something wrong, I'm all ears, but literally the only time I've seen an AoE get dispelled is if there is literally nothing else in range (ie you run out of the room, look back and cast DM:P from a mile away and then it maybe dispels the AoE. Maybe.

Communal Protection from Energy: Fire should protect you from the damage, Freedom of movement should stop the prone effect..

Area dispels do not work in battle in this game. You just end up dispelling a random buff of an ally or a debuff off an enemy. Same applies if you use the trickster dispel.

Freedom of movement does no such thing

You need to use Dispel Magic, not Greater Dispel Magic. Greater Dispel targets one buff on every creature in the area. Normal Dispel (level 3 spell) only targets AoE spells.

Yeah, the AoE dispels don't seem to get rid of ground effect spells in this game. I remember something throwing a Blade Barrier spell I tried both dispel and greater dispel AoE to get rid of it and it didn't even roll a die to check.

This is the right answer. You have to use the (point) version of Dispel Magic for this. It works also on AoE from traps.

One of the first things I do, when I enter a new area is to cast fire resist comunial. (Not only because I love the fireball-spell... and I play a fire-kineticist...) This is something, which will at least protect you from most fire damage. Protection imight even be better, but this is limited to a certain amount. While resist negates a fixed minimum-damage. Scirocco has another problem, of couse, It might knock down your companions... So best is to just leave the area.

Only the caster of the spell is able to dispel ground effects. Yes you can dispel ground effects if you are the caster of the spell.

You can't dominate since you would be able to dominate and then dispel all ground effects and it has to be with that dominate does not take over the npc 100% , changing alliances is a very easy modification. Dominate person or monster would be very powerful if it worked like intended. Able to dominate a person and then consume their spells , dispel their own spells and drink up their potions or buff your own team with their spells.

Even more complicated is that to remove the ground effect the spell caster need to be alive and to dispel ground effect you need access to the spell caster ability inventory.

The facts: Mathfinder is mathematic and most mechanics and people who may played it 5 times may never found out about the mechanics on how to dispel ground effects.

No, there are certain ways to despele enemy spells. (bann-bomb of an achlemist, and last not least despel magic and greater despel magic) And you just need access to the spellbook. What you're talking about is "dismiss magic" not "dispel" You can dismis your own magic effects anytime, as long as you're alive. Even in mid-combat. Most of the time, it's a level 0-spell. But for a kineticist, for example, it's an ability. (hence, in the abiltiy-roster.) So there's no need to go to the inventory.
I didn't try out dominate, yet, But I think the enemies just turn to allies, AI-Controlled, if you do that. So - at least without mods - there's not way to dissmiss-magic for enemy-spell-effects.
But most demons and enemies are immune to mind-effects anyway.
