What is the Best way to get a sword magus the mage armor spell?
What is the Best way to get a sword magus the mage armor spell early/mid game. Thinking I am going to have to chug mage armor pots that I will have to craft every rest, but I figured I would see if a level dip would be worth while, or maybe another method.

If you have another caster in the party that can use mage armour, they can cast it on the Magus as well.

I was more looking at the mage armor ascendant feat, That requires you to cast it yourself. I have tested mage armor potions worked in my main playthrough.

Dont dip with sword saint. Its capstone ability is far too powerfull. Youll have full arcane caster anyway so make them scribe mage armor scrolls on rest

Well, if you want to take a dip, a dip into witch can grant extra AC (Lizard Familiar, Iceplant hex); could even grab an oracles curse from stigmatized witch if there is one you could make use of. No BAB though...

Eldritch scoundrel would give you a single casting of it and sneak attack, but also scribe scrolls. You could just write your own scrolls using that and knowledge arcana. Although, I'm only assuming that if potions work for archmage, scrolls should too. I don't actually know for sure.

Both of those were assuming a single level dip, btw,

However, Sexorcista's suggestion is probably the way to go.

I'm assuming by Sword Magus you mean the Sword Saint kit? Pretty sure that'll require a level dip to get.

I'd probably look at Eldritch Scoundrel, you'll get Weapon Finesse, Scribe Scrolls and Sneak Attack just from 1 level which is all you need to cast Mage Armour.

It's also an Int based caster class so no stat changes required and it'll give you access to Accomplished Sneak Attacker if you want to buff that damage a little more.

Thank you everyone for the tips.

I'm pretty sure sword saint does really like dips. Monk and vivisectionist being the obvious choices for massive, massive AC gains and to-hit gains. If you're able to consistently hit, you don't really need the extra help confirming crits, especially as you already have int as a bonus to confirm crit rolls and very likely weapons that significantly boost your crit range.

Monk is useless as dip for SS in wrath. Since you can take prereq for crane via background and there are no powerfull monk robes. Vivi dip was only usefull as secondary dip after monk(since capstone wass already ruined) to get muta for early unfair levels.

i'm very late to the discussion, but what people said before is very valid. Dip into Eldritch Scoundrel to gain weapon finesse and sneak attack as bonus besides Mage Armor.

I would suggest you start as Eldritch Scoundrel then level up 9 levels into Magus (10th lvl is useless). From now on, you could shift into Duelist (Canny Defense stacks. 6 mod Int = 12 AC) and also adds 10 damage and parry mechanics if you want to play around it.

Make nenio a potion brewer, mythic skill focus world, skill focus world, potion brewing, mythic potion brewing. Whenever your in a tough encounter, just drink one of her cl 20 potions. Mage armor among them. It counts towards mythic mage armor as casting it yourself.

IMO this is the best build for nenio. As it can benefit all types of playstyles/play throughs, and all party compositions still benefit from her being in your campagin.

As mentioned above, there are enough magic armour potions in the game. Don't mess up your character just for this.

Big trade offs for dips for little gain on a SS. Can reach x5-x7 crit depending on weapon and build with their capstone which is one of the many reasons they are a premier boss killer. Getting 1d6 sneak damage is just lol especially since you can chug mage armor pots which are super plentiful. The monk/vivi dip was a kingmaker thing and monk dip is far less relevant with oblate background. And while mutagen is actually worth a dip early game I would ditch it late game.

Also another reason dips were more ideal is because even if you made it to 20 in kingmaker the game was pretty much over anyways.

I actually think this dip into Eldritch Scoundrel is still good. It allows you to have, at least 3d6 extra damage per hit (Accomplished Sneak Attack + Mythical Sneak Attack).
Even more if go Trickster. Maybe it's not the best late game, but mid-game it has been an amazing experience for me and my speed estoc with improved critical + duelist levels.

SS is already very a feat starved class especially if you decided to go dex saint (EWWWW). Sneak attacks like most things in wotr are a very all or nothing ability. You either push it as hard as you can or why bother? I can get weapon specialization and greater and mythic weapon specialization which are much better than blowing feats on upping sneak attack.
