Act 4 [Spoilers] - Is the surgeon worth it?
Is the Demongraft worth buying at the arena when it causes your character to lock down when they go below 20% health?

The buff seems very substantial but control effects are the absolute worst. I wouldn't bother unless you can ensure their health not to drop that low most of the time.

I'm soloing so I was like yeah, whatever.
Also if you are a lich melee you rarely will go under 20% hp.

Rarely, but the occasional time an archer has it out for you really does hurt when you lose access to your massively overpowered lich spells.

Lich is best for gish, after I wake up and bursh my teeth and put on my 3410234 24h spells the only thing I ever would cast is mirror image anyway.

Especially after feast of blood which gives you hundreds of hp.

Vampiric blade heals you for 100-120 hp per round, you shouldn't have much more incoming damage than that. Maybe a devour or something spiky, but again, it's very rare. And worst case you just keep on hitting stuff.

It's worth keeping in mind many of the buffs don't stack with other sources. For example, the natural armor is useless if you use a necklace of natural armor. It's very nice if you want to use those slots for something else, though.

Yeah, the problem starts happening, potentially, when the enemy jumps you or teleports in on top of you. (Act 4 has a bad habit in some areas, for example).

But agreed, mostly you should be more than fine.

It's only 2 AC though. The real deal however is the attack and save bonuses, those are inherent and off the top of my head nothing else gives that.

It also gives 2 to overcome SR, 2 to your DC's and 2 to concentration checks.

As for the downside, if you're that scared of it just prep with some false life / stoneskin
