Herald Caller -summon undead
Hey guys, quick question. Actually I am playing a Herald Caller. Does the bonus summoner feats apply to "summon undead" (its from necromancy-school) or just to the other "conjuration" spells (from the conjuration-school)?

It doesn't, also herald caller feats are generic feats so this archetype is a joke.

There is Cryomancer under wizard which boost undead summons but I'd say it's weak, for summons go for Abyssal Sorc

Herald caller gets essentially three free feats, that's no joke at all. You get augment summoning, superior summoning, and you get to completely ignore spell focus conjuration. Leaves you free to focus your feat choices elsewhere, safe in the knowledge that you're getting a very capable summoner for free. Oh, also the ability to spontaneously summon, which lets you focus your spell book elsewhere too.

The cost for this? Medium armour proficiency, shield proficiency, and one domain. Not a bad trade at all in my opinion.

To get these feats it requires a lot of levels put into it, now compare it with Sorc with Abyssal bloodline which gets more summons as bloodline feat, can pick generic feats separately and also give DR to summoned mobs, yes he doesn't have spontaneous summonimg, but he has spontaneous casting in general.

It should be noted there's a good reason why the undead summoning spells don't get the feat bonuses.

Undead summoning spells are a standard action (and as such the creatures immediately go and are targetable by the monsters) while the standard summoning spells take a full round (they can't do ♥♥♥♥ that round and enemies can't even target them, it's like they're not even there).

As such if you need an immediate wall of disposable creatures to keep your guys from becoming mince meat (like for the playful darkness), spells like Animate are going to be WAY more useful. Feats be damned.
