(i know , i know we got some special help as well in Kingmaker but still)
Similarly, i think party of level 20 Adventurers in the right circumstances can have a shot at fighting Demon lord. Not kill it completely, for sure, but maybe defeat for a time being.
Original Fey or Demons? Fey.
In the cosmic lore, demons are an incredibly young race. Qlippoths, Angels, Aeons, Devils are in a tier above most other outsiders.
They're beyond divinity to the point that the gods are to them as mortals are to the gods. The Eldest just don't really take much personal interest in other planes of existence. Demon lords aren't even as powerful as gods, they aren't actually divinities themselves. Asmodeus ascended to godhood, but he's a devil and is the only one.
Pathfinder lore does this thing where each primordial entity group has its own creation myth.
For one story, Asmodeus kills his brother Ihys over free will vs ordered control, then regrets it and implements his brothers free will plan. In another its Apsu and Tiamat. In another its explained as a giant soul wheel and cycle held in place by gods like Pharasma and the Aeons and others.
Typically, Qlippoths are the oldest. They're the C'thulu nightmare beings older than creation.
Just right below full fledged deities like Iomedae or Erastil.
So, in the system? Like mechanically? Demon Lords are probably more of a challenge in a fight. The problem with Fey is that you'll likely never fight them directly, or you'll never get a chance to.
Different kinds of power!
Some are borderline gods, some just very beefy balors.
I'd say eldest noticably stronger than average demon lord.
