Seems like the game think Chaotic = Evil.....
I want to play a Chaotic Good character. But for some reason, some Chaotic choice often look like Evil one's. Like killing someone for no real reason. Lawful is just plain boring to me. I want to be a good chaotic but these choices are often far from good. What's your take on that ?

Chaotic is doing whatever the hell you want, whenever you want. So.. that checks out.

The option you would like to have in game is [Chaotic Good]. But there's no such thing. Option can be good OR chaotic. And chaotic is basically anything. It is about range.

Chaotic = normal by all means. In this game. Because lawful = burn innocent people because some idiot thinks they are witches. Do many wrong things without evidences. Anythings super chaotic for a wise man = lawful here. That's both funny and a bit sad, because IRL sometimes "lawful" is the same. Most of the historical crusade movements were at least ;p

Chaotic has both Good and Evil options.

Not necessarily. Chaotic just means you don't abide by a structure that others can easily observe. Chaotic might mean doing whatever you want, or it might mean acting according to your own code of ethics with no concern for those of society as a whole.

Chaotic Good, for example, in generally interpreted as either A, helping people on a whim and generally not being harmful on the same whim (that would be Chaotic Neutral), or B, helping people according to what you know in your gut is right, laws and traditions be damned.

Depends on the chaotic choices you are offered. Generally not keeping your word, doing unpredictable things and doing pretty much whatever you want can be considered as chaotic. It is about individuality over social norms. For example agreeing with Woljif about a plan that sets yourself as a Divine like Razmir is a pretty chaotic option. Or agreeing with One Eyed Devil to sell your nails. Meanwhile agreeing to aid someone then coming back to kill them because well that is what you want is chaotic too. When you are asked to listen to music of Desna if you join the chorus, that is chaotic as well because you did more then you are told. Telling off authorities is also chaotic too or saying that you will not judge your friends as a commander. Trickster stuff is highly chaotic, because the path itself about everything being a cosmic joke and everything bending to your whim against the rules of reality.

So that really depends on the examples of chaotic options you meet throughout the game. While twisting things you also do lots of good, then you become fairly chaotic good.

If you play a chaotic character, you don't have to pick all chaotic decisions - just pick the ones, which suits you and ignore the ones, which look evil to you

Yep totally agree with you here. Lawful for me seems like being brainwashed into doing thing.

Sparing Minagho's life is chaotic. Is it evil tho?

Take a look at Desna, since she is mentioned a lot in the game, and what she did and does. The whole thing about Arueshalae is super chaotic. A lawful deity like Iomedae would smite her just because she is a demon.

Chaotic means you do whatever you want, which makes you unpredictable (and the reason why it doesn't click with lawful entities...). Is it good or bad, it depends on your own views. There is no laws to chaotic choices, only your own rules and beliefs, Sometimes you'll feel it's the right thing to do, sometimes it would appear as a very evil choice...

They have that encounter in act one, you can kill the witch hunter lawfully if you have ember with you because insulting her is a high crime punishable by death.

Yeah also there is another side of chaotic in games (and not only):

Chaotic also means that you don't give a fck about what SOMEONE wants YOU to do.
You do what you think is good, or bad if it's your thing.
You don't do that someone wants, because they think in their mind bubble that it's good or bad.

The judgement from their side = chaotic (because couldn't manipulate). Fck them :p

For me, chaotic (good or evil you decide) is usually the best and wisest choice in rpgs.

That is from your perspective as a person who has acces to a huge amount of info while real crusaders didn't. So i think it's obvious that lawful path may look stupid but i think it's fair enough.

Doing whatever the hell you want, when you want, but whether you're good or evil is what determines what you choose to do.

Those jokster college students that just do stupid stuff because they want too, skip classes when they want too, but also do time at charities, and help out the needy are Chaotic Good. They aren't just randomly offing people.

That's just because the writing in this game is garbage.
