Also check back in your messages and see if you got told the lock was jammed. If you fail badly enough you ruin the lock so that it can never be opened by key or pick so you have to bash it.

It can, camellia picked it with one of those lockpicks with 35% for me
In any case they should really make it more obvious that a lock is jammed, I was watching the screen intently while trying to pick the lock but didn't see any messages other than "Locked". I'm guessing perhaps there was a message about it in the log? I'll have to look out for that; unfortunately I don't have any practical savepoints before that door, not sure if I want to fight through half the dungeon again just to test this ><
See above and also if you rescue certain people fast enough, they will dispel the glyphs for you when they come along for the Grey Garrison assault.
That was a Kingmaker mechanic. You can just retry right there in WotR. Unless you jam the lock (fail the Trickery check by more than 5 (or is it by 5 or more?)).
Even with that... this game was made to specifically allow and encourage save scumming. I hate it but that's how it works.
