How important is persuasion on the maincharacter?
Are there many skillchecks that only take the mc's persuasion skill into account?
Or is it safe to keep persuasion to the paladin and focus on something else?

Daeran and Ember have ungodly persuasion stats and you can typically use them to make the checks for you.

There may be some specific scenarios where the KC's persuasion is used specifically but I can't recall any off the top of my head. IIRC you can even use party member's persuation stat while talking to said party member in some scenarios...

There is some content locked behind the Perception stat though. Which can be annoying since the game won't even prompt that you failed a dialogue related perception check IIRC.

There are certain situations throughout the game where you don't have access to your party. Or, as in the Swarm's case, don't get to have a party period. Having a high Persuasion MC can be very helpful in both cases.

If you're using charisma as a dump stat, the Acolyte background lets you use wisdom instead of charisma for persuasion.

I'm uncertain wether I should take trickery for traps or persuasion on my mc. 3 skillpoints on a fighter isnt very much, 2 of them go for atheltics and mobility already

persuasion isnt gonna be very useful on a character that doesnt stack the ability score for it....

early game you have some persuasion checks before you can get Daeran, Ember, or Sosiel.... which all can stack persuasion high due to their features.... and even those checks require a pretty high skill....

though i'd say go into perception.... camping wise you have to fill out certain roles....

a character for knowledge religion checks to prevent corruption while camping...
a character for stealth while camping...
2 characters for perception checks while camping...
a character who cooks... or makes potions if they have the skill...
and a character who scribes scrolls...

thats all 6 roles within camping...

Does Swarm even use Persuasion? I thought the entire point was the ultimate Murder Hobo RP.

This is actually big and super obscure for newbies. This is my default for my KC whenever I go Monk or Divine caster.

For a Fighter I'd pick Persuasion all the way, any day. The class makes great use of the skill via Cornugon Smash, Dazzling Display, Intimidating Prowess and Dreadful Carnage. It's a precious skill that is required for these combat feats.

Yep.

Not sure if you'd need trickery much on your MC. Especially compared to persuasion. Perception's another good one to have - the more high rollers for perception, the better.

It's amazing for monks (aside from the dragon guys), especially if you want to be use the feats Schlumpsha just mentioned. I'm also fond of Healer for int-based mercs destined to become the party's lore mules. Some of the other backgrounds can be used in pretty crafty ways too.

Dump charisma honestly. There are so few personal persuasion skill checks your character will need to make. I think there are probably under 10. I can only remember exactly where two of them are and they're at the end of the game after completing the secret ending and they have zero consequences outside of the ending slideshow.

Is trickery any use on the MC at all? Pretty much from the start you'd have Camellia and Woljif, depending on whether you want to associate with a shadowy spawn of evil or a tiefling.

I find it useful....

I like playing as a seeker sorcerer so I get a trapfinding bonus..... half your sorcerer level added to trickery checks.... basically my sorcerer ends up being better at trickery than Cam and Wolfijj by Act 2 start....

and by end of Act 2 when I get Aru.... she needs buffs with pets and such in order to reach higher trickery than my sorcerer...

Persuasion is so kingmaker. Perception is what you want in WOTR. You have at least 2 perception check you alone can do. Meanwhile I think all persuasion check can be done with the party.

Persuasion shouldn't be underestimated (btw. tldr except the title.)
You have a lot of options to use that skill even in combat.

I didn't realy interact with my companions, however, But to my expereince, that's the only dialoge-situation, where you are forced to use the persuasion-skill of your main character. In all other dialoges, the highest one of your companions is used.

Good point!

I put points to Perception and Persuasion on every MC I make and I've never regretted it.
