LOL even after re-install i still cannot get the game to load
it just sits at 66 percent (also probably unrelated to my previous issue) Oh and the pinned fix doesn't work cause the folder in question has nothing in it

clean my registry? how? Its bizarre, the game remembers my settings but the C drive setting files don't exist? i dunno what I need to delete to get it to not re-download them

IF you don't know what you're doing DO NOT CLEAN YOU REGISTRY. Terrible advice.

yeah I have no intention of messing with my registry since the problem seems to be that the Owlcat folder is not generating the files I probably need to run the game

:Owlcat_suspecting: You may try installing Unity Mod Manager. After the game has stopped responding, it should become possible to open up UMM interface by pressing Ctrl+F10 and then move to the Log tab. At the bottom of the window it will have a button to move to the actual log file.

Cleaning the pc registry is a needed event monthly at least. when software is installed or deleted / uninstalled, or errors on the pc caused by windows, the registry is the first place you need to clean / fix / repair.

jv16 powertools is probably the easiest to use for those who are scared to run a simple registry cleaner and repair tool. This will fix most installation issues if it is not a permission issue or A/V firewall issue.

No its not. Remaining registry keys from apps like games affect litterally nothing. Unless they affect classes and such, which games do not. And if you're going to mess with classes you may as well do a clean install of windows at that point, because if you don't know what you're doing you can really mess things up. But again game's registry settings have 0 impact on your pcs functionality and other games.

People with odd pc behaviour likely use a preinstalled windows that's totally botched or messed it up somehow themselves. Ive installed many systems myself and never ever ever have issues on those systems and I sure as hell don't mess with registry settings or clean the registry. That's some sort of bogus idea that somehow made it onto the internet at one point. Its a total waste of your time.

also near as i can tell the registry is meaningless to fix if the files i need to run the game do not install when I download the game itself, I would like the game to start with a default installation but i cannot figure out how to force it to do that

Have you tried rolling back to an earlier version to see if they work? Right clicking the game on Steam, going to Properties > Beta lets you select an older version of the game going back all the way to 1.3.

using the Windows/R key a couple days ago (I forgot I could do this) I was able to find those registry files in the software folder.......however deleting them didn't seem to do anything as the game still is trapped in the resolution i previously set it on and it still won't load past the first loading screen

Do you meet the system requirements?

That's my first question to someone that can't get the game to start.

my graphics card is a 2060 gtx and my Ram is 16 gigs, the other day before I had to re-install my windows I was able to get out of the initial loading screen and enter the character creator, but now its at a specific resolution and never does anything, and all the other fixes people keep suggesting either have to do with mods (which I have none) or deleting the registry (which seemingly does nothing)

Sorry to be unhelpful. Normally, when people can't get the game to run and they ask here, it's one of those problems.

Try this program https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/software/nvidia-app/

You might already have it installed. It's mostly a tool for updating your drivers on your graphics cards, but it also has a handy feature where you can adjust the graphic settings for this game prior to launching it.

So set the slider to "performance" as the priority (aka, as terrible graphics as possible). See if that helps. You can always set them higher, later, but nice to know that the game actually works first.

Maybe try this one, just to be sure your PC "should" be able to run it:

(it sounds good from what you said, but handy to doublecheck)
