Can't use 10th level spell / spell slots question
In level 19, my arcanist lich (caster level 28) finally learned his 10th level spells. However, he couldn't use them since he didn't have spell slots at this level. He never had one even when he finished the game, with cl 30.
It didn't make much sense. In the cutscene of fighting Deskari in Iz, it was a 10th level lich spell that he used to kill the demon lord.
Anyone can shed light on this? Also, I'd like to know how the spell slots work. I don't think my spell slots ever increased since I learned my first 9th level spells. Since you got higher level, shouldn't you be able to cast more mid/lower level spells? :colinfacepalm:

Check if you have enough attribute points in whatever the Arcanist needs for their spell slot amount.
For Sorcs and Paladins the stat is CHAR for example, while clerics use wisdom.

It's intelligence.
My base intelligence is 20, plus 16 from equipment, bonus etc.
According to the description, to cast a spell of certain level, you need 10+ that level number. So if I understand correctly, I only need 20 intelligence to cast a 10th level spell.
However, that's not the case. I even used bag of toys to edit my intelligence to 50. Still didn't work.

+1, just noticed this a few days ago with the same setup.

As far as this part, that's because you never gain any new spells past CL 20, because 20 is, obviously, the level cap for all classes. The main benefit for having a CL 21+ is for spell pen checks, spells that do damage based on CL, etc.

You got your spell slots far earlier than normal because of how the merged spellbook works, and thus had a much wider gulf of not gaining any new spell slots than normal.

As far as 10th level spells, I don't know anything about that. Maybe they're still bugged.

What's showing up in mine is the spells are there in the book, but no active slots to fill them. Only certain class + mythic path combos with merged books gain access to 10 level spells, and the divine options still work at least.

Same; Lich path with mythic spellbook merged with Arcanist.
