Good weapon for Faye speaker druid?
I'm new, and have much deliberation I finally decided to pick a Faye speaker druid. What's a good weapon for them to use? I would prefer a ranged weapon but I'm open to melee if I need to.

Feyspeaker is the strongest[www.gog.com] melee druid and you would fight in animal form except at low levels when you'd use a crossbow while buffing your animal companion. Wizard illusion spells provide the tankiness other druids lack and the fact that all natural attacks are primary gives you decent to-hit on your iteratives despite your subpar overall AB.

They're a low BAB progression class (same as Wizards), so cantrips. Seriously don't use a weapon with them.

Druids have 3/4 BAB, wizards have half BAB.

if you like summoning with your druid, there is a spear in act 4 that adds a bit of sonic dmg to your summons

Really? I heard that Faye speaker druids are best at being spellslingers. What stats should I build then?

Feyspeaker are actually a rare exception where the archetype has different BAB growth

Yes, longspear falls under Simple Weapon Proficiency category.

I stand corrected. Never noticed that before.
I guess weapon choice doesn't really matter then, a regular caster staff should do. IIRC there's a pretty good +3 one (Battle Mage Staff or something like that) that works fine on pretty much any caster.

Also, you can always expand your accessible weapons pool while choosing your background and deity with favored weapon you want. Or picking a race with weapon familiarity of interest.

Druids dont actually get Simple weapon Proficiency. They get their own 'Druid Weapon Proficiency' which unfortunately does not contain longspear. (They do get short spear and spear)

Is a caster staff the same as a Bo staff?

Yeah, feyspeaker is similar to magus in that first impressions don't sync up very well with optimal playstyle. Just as magus characters are nearly always better off with a two-hander even though it looks from the flavor text like they should keep a hand free, feyspeakers are nearly always better off fighting in animal form on the frontline even though their low BAB and later-than-normal wildshape make it look like they should be casters.

Max strength, high DEX/CHA, a scaled fist splash, and some source for mage armor would be the basics of the build.

Thanks for the reply! What druid subclass should I be if I want to be a spellslinger then?

the weapon with the sonic bonus for summons is still a spear and not a longspear
