Camellia as a rogue?
I´m still early in the game and my party is only lv 4. I noticed that i dont have a good rogue in my party that can detect traps and open chests. So i was thinking about Camellia who has a high dex. Isnt she the perfect candidate to multi-class into a rogue? Would like some advice about this

Don't need a rogue in this game, just need a Perception and Trickery specialized character. Anyone can max those skills.

no, shaman is good class, also you can use wolfji

I've done Cam as a rogue before. Very viable. You'll also lose Woljif for a bit in acts 2 and 3, and Cameilla is pretty skill poor as a spirit shaman, so I highly recommend doing just that. Most of Cameilla's spells are increasingly useless as you progress through the campaign, anyway. Her real value is in the extra weapon enchantment and hexes. What I do is start leveling her in rogue by the start of act 2 and then start giving her a few more spirit shaman levels once I find Woljif.

multiclassing a caster into a martial class is a pretty safe way to gimp this character, i mean you can do it but dont exspect her to become a powerhouse, camelia already comes with a very high trickery skill and skill focus in it, going rogue wont improve this any further so going rogue for this is waste of her shaman tool kit, while the shaman spells are not the best, they are still useful to have and her hexes DC scales also with her shaman level, so you will gimp that as well, and you will have less hexes and hexes are really good

As I pointed out....her spells suck. Enlarge person? Pointless by act 2 or 3. Cure spells? I have people who can channel, which is usually more practical in combat. True seeing and stoneskin? I have a bunch of people who can cast it communally. Bull's strength, cat's grace, and bear's endurance? Most of my people will end up with belts. And she gains a couple spells that boost strength and only target personal- which is pointless when you're a dex character that can get mythic weapon finesse.

As other's said, you don't specifically need a rogue. You just need someone trained in perception and trickery. A blockhead barbarian could do it. Or an uptight, law abiding paladin who would faint at the very idea of picking pockets. Even one of your dogs could do it, if you've got characters with animal companions.

In theory, yes. Practically, in a mythic game? No. By the end of the game you often need to hit DC40 or higher. That requires a certain degree of specialization. Additionally, any class wearing any degree of armor is going to subtract from trickery and stealth rolls. Cameilla also has low skill points from her class and her int isn't that high. You can get maybe 2-3 skill points per level from her as a spirit shaman. So sure, you can put all those into stealth and perception...if you want to run into random encounters every time you camp and anytime you travel on the world map.

Try her a Rogue ( Rowdy ) and she gets very very brutal with a rapier. Mythic Vital Strike. I do not like Shaman spells so I always turn her into a Fighter/Rowdy with rapier or estoc specialization.

Woljif is great at trickery but if you do not want to use him, Camellia is great too since she already start with skill focus in trickery.

Camelia as Shaman/support is just way more usefull that anything else she can potentialy became. You have a bunch of buffs early , hexes and hellfire ray later on. I usualy pump her feats intro perception with skill focus/allertness/whatever else cause all she is doing in combat in first half of the game is hexing/cacling. Flame spirit with flame curse increase hellfire ray dmg by 150% and with new intensify metamagic she can easely reach 1080 dmg per cast not counting crits.

i prefer to spec her into freebooter for extra attack bonus. she's can be better tank than seelah in prologue especially for extra boss fight in prologue

oh god, i hate freebooters, they might give nice bonuses but they are annoying, 2 seperate actions you need to reapply the whole time, if you are just doing it for a dip, just dont do it, too annoying and not that great after all to justify it

Woljif is a good rogue, if you want one. For Camellia, I'd let her remain shaman. You can still give her trickery and perception, she gets good spells and can even get an animal companion once she reaches level 16.

camelia stats with the trickery talent, so she'll get a +6 after getting 10 points in. She was definitely designed to be a backup lockpicker, and is very viable that way.

She's really strong if you leave her as pure shaman, especially now that shaman has level 20 capstone abilities. If you give her nature as a 2nd spirit she gets a mount at level 16, so you can dual wield rapiers and farm AOOs for your party. Battle spirit gets her weapon specialization and greater weapon focus so you can keep her AB and damage decent with mythic feats.

Early game you're using her for hexes and buffs. Barkskin and delay poison are huge buffs in act 1. The hampering hex is one of the best ac debuffs since it works on everything except swarms, unlike evil eye which lots of stuff is immune to.

detecting traps and opening locks isnt based on class but on talent points, trickery for lockpicking and perception to find traps and hidden stuff. camelia makes an excellent lockpicker that handles 95% of the locks in game fine and for the rest just throw her some buff or use a lockpick.
she is however only a mediocre perception character but there are plenty other good choices for that.
so in terms of efficency and fitting her character you better not not putting any rogue levels on her.
