thank you.
Now, go to a spell you want to metamagically enhance. Click on it and you should see it appear in the box in the metamagic panel. Above the box you will see all the metamagics feats you have. If any are reddish, that mean you cannot apply that metamagic feat to that spell. This might be because it raises the maximum spell level above 9 or that the feat doesn't work with the spell (such as trying to use Metamagic Empower on a Heroism spell).
So click the metamagic feat you want to apply. Below the spell box is another box that will tell you the what spell level slot the spell will take to cast with that feat applied (Example - fireball is a third level spell, Empower Feat increases the spell level by 2, so it will show as needing a 5th level spell slot). You can apply mulitple metamagic feats so long as you don't exceed the maximum spell level but if the needed spell level is higher then the maximum spell level your character can cast, you won't be able to cast it. Note, while applying all metamagic feats to a spell, except for Heighten, increases the level of the spell slot needed to cast the spell with the metamagic feat this DOES NOT increase the DC of the spell, the DC is still that of the base spell. Heighten metamagic is the exception to this as all it does is increase the spell level in order to increase the DC.
Once you have applied all the metamagic feats you wish to the spell, click the "Write Spell" box at the bottom of the metamagic tab. If you want to, you can add some coloring around the border of the spell to make it more obvious this is metamagically enhanced spell. Once you have clicked the "Write Spell" a new spell icon will appear in you spellbook of the spell in the new spell level. So, Empowered Fireball you would find on the 5th level spell tab.
If you are a class that has to memorize your spells (wizards, clerics, druids, as examples) when you choose your spells to memorize before you rest you will need to choose the metamagically enhanced version of the spell to memorize.
With spontaneous casters, you can choose the spell at the time of casting, making sure you are picking the metamagically enhanced version. However, for all metamagics except Quicken, any spontaneous caster that using a metamagic feat to enhance a spell makes that spell take a full round action to cast.
what it does is add 2 damage per die of the spell..... and 2 damage per die as splash damage with the element of the original spell.... within 5ft range of the target
meaning if you cast a bolstered hellfire ray as a 19th level caster..... and converted it from fire to say electricity because you have ascendant element electricity....
thats 3 rays at 15d6...... so 45d6 + 2 per die from bolstered.... which can also stack with other sources of per die such as a matching draconic bloodline which we'll say you have an electric type for an extra 1 per die for electricity spell since its converted......
so thats 45d6 + 2 from bolstered + 1 from bloodline.... = 45d6 + 135 electrical damage.... and 2 per die splash damage of 90 that is fire damage since that part of bolstered spell cant be converted...
And does it stack with Maximized, Empowered and Bolstered Metamagics
Add bolster and intensified with favoured meta magics and you could do 10D6 plus another 20 from bolster that should still take up a level 1 slot. add maximised and empower and you'll do 200 damage, 400 on a crit and with the mythic critical that could be 600 damage.
