Martial arcane spellcasters have many options. From Magus, to Bloodrager, Eldritch Knight, Hagbound, or Skald. Even Bard.
Summoning focused classes and archetypes range from Druids, Monster Tactician, Herald Caller and Preservationist. To name a few. Or you can channel into necromancy to summon hordes of skeletons.
Also yes, there is a succubus companion you can romance.
Ah, there are all kinds. Including a literal demon girl. And even a second demon girl if you follow a certain mythic path and make certain decisions. You can also choose the Demonic Mythic path, fully or partially (I am not joking, you'll be offered a choice if you want to continue at some point). It basically transforms you into a demon. I strongly recommend the play experience.
Each mythic path also offers unique summons that come from your mythic power. The Demonic, for example, can summon various demons to fight on your side. The Trickster summons fey, the Azata summons... Azata... and etc.
While not strictly specialized in summoning, the Abyssal bloodline of the sorcerer and the eldritch scion offers stronger summons.
Next question, is the hunter any good? I saw it and saw Ok I get a either a animal companion or a fu** of griffin. Then though Link + griffin = bad ass!
Please be gental as in have no even got past first character yet because spead sheet games always confuse me. But this one looks it's worth.
I just want to slightly cool down your enthusiasm and say you'll have to use your imagination about some things. There is not a lot of content when it comes to romance. It is marked, though. The romance also varies in length, as usually the companions get the lion's share.
I can't comment on the hunter. I've played as a magus, sorcerer and bard. :)
You get about 12 core companions (some mythic paths get additional unique companions), half of whom are romanceable. You can romance several characters at once but you will have to make a choice towards the end of the game.
The real hot one is one of the baddies called Nocticula. But that's not a party member unfortunately.
There are also some other archetypes with special "pets": Winter Child has a blizzard elemental, Hag of Gyronna gets a night hag, Ghost Rider has a phantom horse, Shadowcaster a shadow and Bladebound has a sentient flying sword.
Honestly I'm not looking for romance. I want more the fantasy of the act of having a demon girl. Like BG3 wizard looked cool but I bounced. Bought NWN on sale clicked wizard and found out they get their own personal demon dog at level 1. Yes different game/dev/addition but come one how is having a demon dog/fairy lock pick/ baby dragon not the definition of fantasy desires!
As for your class. There's loads of spellcasters. Too many to mention them all. It kind of depends on what type of spellcaster you're looking for. You mentioned red mage or warrior mage before. Magus comes to mind. It's very strong. Bit of a combination between a fighter and a wizard/sorcerer. It gets upto level 6 spells and a bunch of melee abilities on top. Great in melee due to things like Dimension Blade which allows ignoring all types of armor on enemies.
Now, pets on the other hand are totally reverse of that. They're more like additional party members, maybe slightly weaker but can still do a good job and likely not die in every battle.
Don't know who that is but she sounds lovely.
Honestly with first look over the character sheet I thought Inquisitior looked fun. I thought I saw a version that summoned and I imagined a warrior of go summoning demons to drag the souls of sinners to hell..
This magus one Razer mentioned sounds more up my ally thought.
As to summoning being weak.. yea, so far the only game that ever made summoning legit cool was Final Fantasy X. I loved elder scrolls conjuration class and skill set. I been looking for other games other then elder scrolls/elden ring with such systems.
There's a class called Bloodseeker (basically a vampire) that can summon dire wolves at level 3 I think which is a level 4 spell normally. Which a pure spellcast with access to this spell would get at level 7 at the earliest. Then has a summon called bloody bone beast (which is an undead) that is very powerful. Powerful enough to kill stuff even on higher levels at the end of the game if buffed properly.
Most summons aren't particularly strong though, but they can be useful to keep enemies busy. I've never tried the demonic summons much.
There's also a Witch archetype that can get a spellcasting hag companion as part of their kit.
