WoTR: Most *Fun* Class to Play
So this is something that has been itching at me ever since I finished my Azata playthrough and started my trickster.

Gods I wish that I was still playing my Azata's class, which I shall discuss down below, instead of playing a Kineticist.

Which don't get me wrong *has* been fun, but while the damage the Elemental Engine puts out is absolutely ludicrous, it's not as . . .well fun and visually/audibly pleasing as my other class was.

So before I head to bed tonight I figured that I would share my thoughts on what I have found to be the most fun classes to play as in Wrath of the Righteous, discounting Mythic Path combos as for why they are fun, and why I think they are so fun.

**-][-**

1) Elemental Rampager: So this Owlcat created archetype for the Druid may be some of the most fun I have ever had in a CRPG, and I think that is entirely because of it's unique Elemental Rampage and Claw ability. Basically it let's you apply scaling elemental damage to your natural attacks that also scale as you level up and gain new abilities. I went with the Lightning Claws, which turned out to be a blessing once I learned that they gained Lightning Discharge, which is basically zippy magic for natural attacks.

It's nice being able to hit everyone 15 feet near your target with loud crackly blasts of lightning. Meant eating up a Mythic Feat to make it viable in a class that already demands a bunch of other tempting feats, but GODS it was just the most absolute fun to turn into a Giant Burning Shambling Mound surging across the battlefield sending out the fury of the storm upon all of the inhabitants of the abyss.

Seriously this is a 10/10 unique experience of a archetype and I can't recommend it enough.

2) Have you ever been frustrated by your spells not penetrating enemy's defences? Have you ever wanted to bloody **delete** enemies at low level with your Snowballs at level 1? Have you ever wanted a unique experience that changes with every playthrough because of their unique patron system? Do you want a Witch with Spontaneous Casting? Look no further with the "Leyline Guardian" archetype that serves as my absolute favorite arcane class in the game. Witches have a more limited spellbook compared to the other Arcane or Half-Arcane classes, but what they do have more then makes up for it when used right, and every build allows for a new experience.

3) The Cult Leader Warpriest is everything I have ever wanted in a Divine Spellcasting Class. Mechanically busy, Sneak attack die, Native Quick Casting, and scaling favored weapons. The Divine Magus, they are supreme as PC play and it's never not satisfying to fervor a flame strike on your self when surrounded before doing so once more.

4) Despite my earlier complaining about it just a few paragraphs ago, I must admit that the experience of a Kineticist is a truly unique one.

The Kineticist is. . . odd mechanically in turnbased mode, and I'm not always sure if it's working like I think it does, but one thing that I have noted is that the Kineticist is really really REALLY powerful even in the most misshapen hands. Visually they're a lot of fun as well, with unique tattoo models, great fire and lightning effects for their Kinetic Blades, Walls, and Blast Shapes, and their Kinetic Blasts scale so much that it is quite unfair for any and all enemies who dare try and face you with under 200 HP.

Personally I'm a big fan of the Fire/Blue Fire, Plasma, and Lightning Blasts aesthetically. I plan on getting the Thunderstorm blast soon to see if that looks just as cool.

Still despite how stupidly absurdly powerful the Kineticist is, if it weren't so visually pleasing I'm not sure that I would be able to bring myself to finish this playthrough.

So those are my top 4 favorite classes in Wrath of the Righteous and just *why* I find them to be so much fun. What about the rest of you Crusaders? What is your favorite class for the purposes of *fun* to play?

I'll list the classes I've played with my Mythics. I won't take Mythics into account here. Here is the list:

  • Faith Hunter Inquisitor(Aeon)
  • LLG Winter Witch(Angel)
  • Life Witch Doctor Shaman(Azata)
  • Ele Rampage Druid(Demon)
  • Asmodeus Ecclesitheurge - Necro / Illu ; should've been Necro / Ench tbh(Devil)
  • Dragonheir Scion Fighter(Dragon)
  • Gorum Crusader + iRager Barbarian(Legend)
  • Vivisectionist Alchemist(Lich)
  • Steel-Breaker Brawler(Swarm)
  • Freebooter Ranger(Trickster)

And here's how I'd rate them:

    1. Faith Hunter
    2. Steel Breaker
    3. Winter Witch
    4. Witch Doctor
    5. Dragonheir
    6. Ele Rampage
    7. eTheurge
    8. Freebooter
    9. Gorumsader
    10. Vivisectionist

    And here's the explanation why:

Faith Hunter: I just love everything about it. How Judgments are defensive in nature, how you need to choose between defense and offense(say, Judge vs Bane), how many skills it masters and the entire "spellsword" playstyle...this one's fantastic! Fits Aeon very well too.

Steel Breaker: Sure, Brawler is not in the game, but that's much to the game's detriment. Brawler is one of the most fun experiences I've ever had. Period. Breaker goes an extra mile due to Exploit Weakness, which can be hilariously OP.

Winter Witch: While it did not really fit the Angel(thus causing me to replay Angel earlier or at all), it is such a lovely class where you are constantly doing something. And I personally love the entire CC + damage playstyle of WW(especially once you get Polar Midnight and the like! <3 ).

Witch Doctor: When you REALLY want to Healbot the ♥♥♥♥ out of everything. But it's more than that tbh. Due to Chants and Hexes and the entire Druid + Cleric spellbook...it's amazingly fun and effective. And fitting for Azata.

Ele Rampage: Basically, what you said, it's a very fun, very Demon-like archetype.

Ecclesitheurge: While it was like "THE DEVIL"(only perhaps missing Ench), it wasn't actually that fun. I mean, it sorta was, but it was more "COOL" and "FITTING" than "FUN". Mostly because it was just entirely too simple.

Dragonheir: Ye old Reliability! And it wasn't actually not fun, it was simply too simple. Point and shoot, that's all there's to it, as they'd say. Don't really think you can get any more "DRAGON" except, perhaps, Dragon Disciple or Scaled Fist.

Freebooter: Amazingly broken and useful, but not that fun. It's like a more gimmicky Dragonheir. Dragonheir actually is quite fun in its simplicity and reliability, Freebooter's gimmick status is quite felt. Luckily, Sense Vitals + Trickster + Vital Strike turn him into more than a simple buff bot.

Gorumsader: I LOVE this character to bits(how could I not, it is Conan + Achilles lol), but its actual playstyle is actually quite annoying. Entirely too much buffing. And once you do, you are unstoppable. Yawn. It did feel like a Legend, like a Conan of sorts though.

Vivisectionist: Like above, but more gimmicky. Like it needed more minutiae. Not really all that Lich like(but then again, Lich is very lacking if not merging, imo).

Any kind of witch class would probably be the most fun.

Personally, I've always hated wizards or any kind of spellcasters in fantasy games.

I like the more practical classes. Like fighters and such.

Playing the Cavalier: Knight of the Wall has been the most fun. I've never played an isometric RPG that let me play a class like that. It's a first. And you know what they say about first impressions.

You don't get a second chance at it.

grenader trickster is currently my favorite
I probably had the most fun as a sohei axe throwing aoen.
Crusader full cleric is absolutely best for me. Shield basher
Base Fighter. get Dual wield weapon training and wreck havoc. 7-8 attacks per turn without haste at lvl 16. On avearge 300 damage per turn if you hit everything.
And with Mythic paths you can still cast spells.
Somehow i end up time and time again to play Sylvan sorcerer

full caster , flexible casting and animal companion plus nice additional tools like invisibility toggle

For melee oriented character i have most enjoyed halfling warpriest( cult leader) of desna going azata path.. being able to ride Aivu with reduce person and poking toes for 100 damage on crits is quite hilarious .

I’ll third the Rampage Druid being a blast, especially paired with the Demon mythic; most of the Demon transformations use natural weapons and the rage stacks with Rampage so your character is a melee beast in addition to having those powerful higher level Druid spells to call upon, and you have the elemental shapes to fall back on if you fight sneak/crit-loving enemies. I didn’t even miss the Pounce you get from Smilodon form since you get that wonderful move action teleport.

I’m in chapter 2 right now with an ES Magus and that is extremely fun in TB mode if you like full action economy and micromanagement. Enemy spell resistance is becoming a real problem however, since all the maguses lower level touch spells require a check, and I really wish Owlcat had added Chill Touch and Frostbite. CotW for kingmaker was able to add these charge-per-level in a fully functioning state, why couldn’t Owlcat?

Dumb question incoming - what is a Steel Breaker?

Is that a class included in a mod?
Being a person who hates rests and limited abilities, I find it most fun to play as classes who can - after being buffed once - clear the entire location of enemies without a single rest on unfair.
In my first game it was Legend MC (although he only started to shine in ACT5 and I played the first 4 acts on normal difficulty), in my second game it was kineticist, in my third game it was my wildland shaman's triceratops pet who basically soloed everything that moved after being polymorphed into dragon, and now I'm building a gish lich.

I guess it's kinda one-dimensional & dumb but I just like to buff 1-2 strongest members of my party (including protective luck & fortune precackled with toybox's "cackle extends duration by 10 minutes out of combat") with long-duration buffs and send them on a killing spree while making a cup of tea and enjoying the show, not thinking about whom to Hold Monster, whom to Weird, whom to chain lightning, whom to shover with grenades etc. etc.
Just endless bonk, bonk, bonk.

Also since the last game I stick to "the fewer, the better" approch when it comes to party members. I hate most of vanilla companions (first and foremost, personality-wise) so I never use them and hire mercs but I only hire them when I feel like I could use some help, so I start solo, then over time hire the first merc, then an act later the second merc, then the third one another 50 hours later etc.

Clerics are the most fun for me. I like characters that can cast level 9 spells while doing okay in melee. Throw in the Angel spells with a merged spellbook and it was just a blast (literally).
My Demonbane priest would just nuke the every living hell out of everything on screen and then whipped out a longsword and slew the remaining survivors alongside his trusty dog companion.

Clerics are by far the best class overall due to how adaptable they are. They can do everything, they just got to be build right, Tanking, melee damage, ranged damage, spell casting, healing, summoning. They can do it all. Clerics are great.
I have really enjoyed playing a halfling Divine Hound Hunter. I hired one as a mercenary on my Azata run, and enjoyed her so much that I am playing her as my main character on my Trickster playthrough. I love the idea of a halfling riding a massive dog, and just plowing through enemies in melee.
My most recent playthrough was Cleric - Angelfire Apostle (Angel). I chose Iomadae (Glory, War) and ran sword and board all the way through.

I liked it a lot! My other playthroughs I always felt like I was forced to take Daeran everywhere I went, and I wanted to experience some other character interactions and still have consistent heals. It worked so much better than I expected it would.

In fact, I inadvertently wound up with my character having absurdly high AC very early on, so my healer main character also wound up being my tank. Combined with the angel mythic abilities, it was a very powerful build. I would highly recommend.

I did swap to Dragon in act 5 with this build as well, but it didn't quite have the same utility. I eventually reloaded a save before that decision and stayed as Angel, as was very happy with it in end game.

One more for the Elemental Rampager. I went for a Dex tank that shifted into fire elementals and stacked the lightning rampage power. triggers elemental barrage automatically by raging, when I am in huge form very few things could even touch my character.

I wanted to do a Halfling Char, so I am playing a Divine Hunter/Sylvan Rogue(4) and i'm about halfway through and having a lot of fun with the charge mechanic
