And here's how I'd rate them:
1. Faith Hunter
2. Steel Breaker
3. Winter Witch
4. Witch Doctor
5. Dragonheir
6. Ele Rampage
7. eTheurge
8. Freebooter
9. Gorumsader
10. Vivisectionist
And here's the explanation why:
Faith Hunter: I just love everything about it. How Judgments are defensive in nature, how you need to choose between defense and offense(say, Judge vs Bane), how many skills it masters and the entire "spellsword" playstyle...this one's fantastic! Fits Aeon very well too.
Steel Breaker: Sure, Brawler is not in the game, but that's much to the game's detriment. Brawler is one of the most fun experiences I've ever had. Period. Breaker goes an extra mile due to Exploit Weakness, which can be hilariously OP.
Winter Witch: While it did not really fit the Angel(thus causing me to replay Angel earlier or at all), it is such a lovely class where you are constantly doing something. And I personally love the entire CC + damage playstyle of WW(especially once you get Polar Midnight and the like! <3 ).
Witch Doctor: When you REALLY want to Healbot the ♥♥♥♥ out of everything. But it's more than that tbh. Due to Chants and Hexes and the entire Druid + Cleric spellbook...it's amazingly fun and effective. And fitting for Azata.
Ele Rampage: Basically, what you said, it's a very fun, very Demon-like archetype.
Ecclesitheurge: While it was like "THE DEVIL"(only perhaps missing Ench), it wasn't actually that fun. I mean, it sorta was, but it was more "COOL" and "FITTING" than "FUN". Mostly because it was just entirely too simple.
Dragonheir: Ye old Reliability! And it wasn't actually not fun, it was simply too simple. Point and shoot, that's all there's to it, as they'd say. Don't really think you can get any more "DRAGON" except, perhaps, Dragon Disciple or Scaled Fist.
Freebooter: Amazingly broken and useful, but not that fun. It's like a more gimmicky Dragonheir. Dragonheir actually is quite fun in its simplicity and reliability, Freebooter's gimmick status is quite felt. Luckily, Sense Vitals + Trickster + Vital Strike turn him into more than a simple buff bot.
Gorumsader: I LOVE this character to bits(how could I not, it is Conan + Achilles lol), but its actual playstyle is actually quite annoying. Entirely too much buffing. And once you do, you are unstoppable. Yawn. It did feel like a Legend, like a Conan of sorts though.
Vivisectionist: Like above, but more gimmicky. Like it needed more minutiae. Not really all that Lich like(but then again, Lich is very lacking if not merging, imo).
Personally, I've always hated wizards or any kind of spellcasters in fantasy games.
I like the more practical classes. Like fighters and such.
Playing the Cavalier: Knight of the Wall has been the most fun. I've never played an isometric RPG that let me play a class like that. It's a first. And you know what they say about first impressions.
You don't get a second chance at it.
And with Mythic paths you can still cast spells.
full caster , flexible casting and animal companion plus nice additional tools like invisibility toggle
For melee oriented character i have most enjoyed halfling warpriest( cult leader) of desna going azata path.. being able to ride Aivu with reduce person and poking toes for 100 damage on crits is quite hilarious .
I’m in chapter 2 right now with an ES Magus and that is extremely fun in TB mode if you like full action economy and micromanagement. Enemy spell resistance is becoming a real problem however, since all the maguses lower level touch spells require a check, and I really wish Owlcat had added Chill Touch and Frostbite. CotW for kingmaker was able to add these charge-per-level in a fully functioning state, why couldn’t Owlcat?
Dumb question incoming - what is a Steel Breaker?
Is that a class included in a mod?
In my first game it was Legend MC (although he only started to shine in ACT5 and I played the first 4 acts on normal difficulty), in my second game it was kineticist, in my third game it was my wildland shaman's triceratops pet who basically soloed everything that moved after being polymorphed into dragon, and now I'm building a gish lich.
I guess it's kinda one-dimensional & dumb but I just like to buff 1-2 strongest members of my party (including protective luck & fortune precackled with toybox's "cackle extends duration by 10 minutes out of combat") with long-duration buffs and send them on a killing spree while making a cup of tea and enjoying the show, not thinking about whom to Hold Monster, whom to Weird, whom to chain lightning, whom to shover with grenades etc. etc.
Just endless bonk, bonk, bonk.
Also since the last game I stick to "the fewer, the better" approch when it comes to party members. I hate most of vanilla companions (first and foremost, personality-wise) so I never use them and hire mercs but I only hire them when I feel like I could use some help, so I start solo, then over time hire the first merc, then an act later the second merc, then the third one another 50 hours later etc.
My Demonbane priest would just nuke the every living hell out of everything on screen and then whipped out a longsword and slew the remaining survivors alongside his trusty dog companion.
I liked it a lot! My other playthroughs I always felt like I was forced to take Daeran everywhere I went, and I wanted to experience some other character interactions and still have consistent heals. It worked so much better than I expected it would.
In fact, I inadvertently wound up with my character having absurdly high AC very early on, so my healer main character also wound up being my tank. Combined with the angel mythic abilities, it was a very powerful build. I would highly recommend.
I did swap to Dragon in act 5 with this build as well, but it didn't quite have the same utility. I eventually reloaded a save before that decision and stayed as Angel, as was very happy with it in end game.
I wanted to do a Halfling Char, so I am playing a Divine Hunter/Sylvan Rogue(4) and i'm about halfway through and having a lot of fun with the charge mechanic
