Ghost rider mount question

I'm planning on buying the new DLC for the Ghost Rider subclass

What type of mount does this class have? Only Horse or can I choose another animal like a wolf or something?

Only horse would be an understatement. It is a ghost horse. Both with different cosmetics and mechanics. Much better than a regular horse.

Given the archetype in tabletop can get a ghost animal option for any standard cavalier mount, including but not limited to ghost wolves and ghost dogs, it is apt to say "only horse" here.

what happens if you take a level of Mad Dog before - does it block you from going Ghost Rider ? Haven't checked that out

Testes this idea and took 1 level in mad dog. When leveling up to second level you can not choose ghost rider. The prequisite says No animal companion. So if any class gives you an animal companion you can not take levels in ghost rider.

It's almost certainly to stop players from picking up the Tether with a different AC.

Either pick a different class for a more deadly AC, or pick Ghost Rider for a nigh-unkillable horse.
