Surprised that Owlcat is still contributing to this game
With Rogue Trader out, isn't it unusual to see a developer still contributing to the previous game?

No. Why would you think that's unusual?

With 450+ employees? Not really all that uncommon to splice a bigger workforce into smaller teams, doing different things. I bet Owlcat would have supported Kingmaker a lot longer as well. Had they still possessed the rights to the game, that is.

It's been my experience that a dev finishes their game/does a final update, years pass, and then they announce a new game and focus entirely on that. Am I wrong?

why would people buy new products if the previous ones are still bugged, also they just sold another DLC, people dont want buggy products and it casts a bad light on companies that dont treat their products well.... some might not bother but they have to pay a price for this as well, bad reputation
edit;
also some companies just treat their products well because they care for em and love their work (might be a strange thought for some i know... lol)

It is for sure unusual but it is really nice

Anyway, it took me by surprise – got an email from GOG that this was on sale, came here to see what Steam has it for, and learned that not only are they still patching it three years later but a DLC just came out.

I think it is simpler that this

They had 6 DLC announced, so they still ahve a team focused on the game. No1 will buy a DLC if the game doesn't work, so they keep wroking on it, while another team work on Rogue Trader

Since there won't be a 7th DLC, expect a round of patches to fix the new classes and new bugs...hopefully everything, relistically some of them, and then they'll focus on Rogue Trader support and maybe work on the next game

Its not unusual for a developer to complete the DLC they already sold.

Since I'm new to the party, might as well wait for the inevitable Complete Edition.

RT was my first Owlcat game... now I'm into WotR... so keep up the good work guys!

That's probably why the Steam discussions for this game aren't eye cancer. Probably why the player base is so positive and supportive and not complaining every other day (Darktide)

No. It's normal for companies to work on multiple titles at the same time.

Especially since their DLC which was pre-ordered (aka season pass) was only released a short while ago (this month.)

Now, I would not be surprised if they intended to finish this one sooner than they have.

I also suspect that they will release a "super" edition of this game, sometime in the future, that comes with all the DLC included by default. Once that sells, they'll probably drop support for this game.

They are also still considering fixes and additions to the Dragon Mythic path.

Imagine waking up in a hell that was the Steam forums for Baldurs Gate 3 and Cyberpunk combined :)

(maybe a bit of Elden Ring or Starfield for extra fan boi spice)

I have one counter argument. Bethesda...the company that builds games onto their bugs.
