Where do the enemies keep getting 20% concealment from?
I regularly keep missing due to enemies having 20% concealment. The thing is, I don't know where they're getting it from. When I "inspect" the enemies, nothing in their stats suggests whey they have it.

My best guess, and I'm hoping somebody can confirm or deny this, is the fact I'm not using light spells or ever-burning torches. 19 times out of 20, I, the person at the keyboard, not my character in game, can see the game map just find without either spell or torch, even in "dark" areas. I developed a habit of not using light sources during my play through of Kingmaker, as I was playing a rogue and made heavy use of stealth to sneak attack enemies, and I was concerned that having a magic light hover above my head would be the equivalent of having an anti-invisibility spell cast on me, applying significant penalties to my stealth checks.

It mostly happens in Lost Chapel, because there is heavy snowfall which gives 20% weather concealment that is not beatable by True Seeing. I think in the base game Nalfeshnee in Areelu's lab also has 20% unbeatable untyped concealment. In Inevitable Excess many enemies have 20% untyped concealment too.

Blind Fight > Improved Blind Fight line helps melee vs all forms of concealment - untyped or not, because you just reroll a miss chance percentile due to concealment. Ranged characters can't benefit from it, so they are gimped. Improved Precise Shot feat works only in few cases, and it's useless against total (50%) concealment from spells like Winds of Vengeance or 20% untyped camouflage.

As for light - I don't think Owlcat implemented low-light vision benefits or penalties in the game.

The snow theory is certainly possible, but wouldn't there be a weather effect icon on both me and the enemies? Also, that does explain the golem* in the indoor space where you fight the lich is getting 20% concealment.

*(Unrelated Rant) And just why does the spell check function in the Steam overlay I'm using not have "golem" as a real word? This is a video game service for crying out load. In the fantasy subset of games, golems are staple game writing material.

Not a theory, it's a proven fact. Kingmaker had weather icons for rain/storm etc. with described concealment, while Wotr for some reason does not have such icons. Maybe because you do not encounter weather conditions in 99% parts of the game, so devs just did not bother.

As to golem - he is technically still in the Lost Hope chapel zone, so he has heavy snowfall concealment on him. Underground is just a subzone. It's a bug.

You can easy check - just rest in the underground area before killing Nabasu boss, and you will see time skip forward, to be night (since story events are happening at night).

Yep... just rest for 9 hours while all your troops are getting mutilated and ghoulified. The game does a good job in some parts of setting up a sense of urgency... and players are just like, nah. Eff those guys.

They have it because you don't have improved precise shot...

It's called cheating.

Also there is no way that snowfall could result in obscuring vision within the small distance these fights take place unless it is snowing so hard there is 3 meters of snow on the ground. At which point the bigger issue is trying to tunnel through the snow.

To answer your initial question, yes, light matters as well. In fact theres even a tutorial for that in the very first cave of the game right at the start.

I usually just have an aasimar with halo and never think about it.

I'm pretty sure the enemies just get to ignore when you have true seeing on.

True sight is far from panacea. It only bypasses illusion based concealment. There are other types.

Another possibility is that you hav a lich and you have the "sold youth" in your list of character special abilities which allegedly imposes a 20% miss chance.
