Do you gain skill points retroactively for increase in Intelligence?
I've been using ToyBox to to quickly level up my NPC character's to level 20 so I can make a reference sheet of their level up progressions.* When making the reference sheet for Nenio, when her intelligence goes from 21 to 22 at level 8, increasing her Int Mod from +5 to +6, she gained 8 skill points. Considering she's been only getting 4.5 skill points a level prior to this, I'm missing something.

This is my second play through, so you don't need to worry about spoilers, I know Nenio's story/secret, but It's been over a year since my first play through. I'm fuzzy on recalling the finer details. Should I just write off the sudden spike in skill points at level 8 as weirdness unique to her secret (I'm being vague for the benefit of people who haven't played through the game yet), or is there a real, game system legal, explanation that I'm over looking?

* = Everybody and their dog has a suggested "ideal" build for the various characters, but I can't seem to find a simple reference of their default builds ANYWHERE. I will actually play the game normally, with out maxing out their level to 20 from the get go, I just want to be able to control aspects of leveling up my characters with out being completely cut off from the suggestions of the default builds.

Yes. At lvl 8 when you bump her up to 22 INT she will get an additional 4 skill points to spend (half her level). This is also true if you're leveling a human and select Fast Learner feat. You'll get half your level in skills to assign.

skill points increase with your INT bonus increase. the total you get each level up will also be based on what class your leveling up in

So retroactive gains are the reason? I'm more familiar with DnD 3.5 than Pathfinder, and if I recall correctly, you did NOT get retroactive gains in DnD 3.5, hence my confusion.

Thank you.

Kinda wish I knew about the retroactive gains when I was playing Kingmaker just the other day. I would have built my character a little differently.

Imho it would be nice if You wouldn´t need to invest 2 points for 1 gain - for all the other attributes, while for intelligence is halfway works that way that You get something out of any point invested into it.

Just saying - and ye, it´s unrelated, and ye - it wouldn´t change...
