Dex scimitar?
Can anyone confirm once and for all that taking weapon finesse, weapon focus scimitar and slashing grace makes scimitar rolls be based on dex? Or is it not? I tried to look for answer elsewhere but they appear confused and contradictory

It should only work that way if you have at least 5 levels of fighter and take fighters finesse as a weapon training feat. You need to take heavy blades for the weapon group and then all of those weapons become finesse

Last time I checked, yes. However, I haven't checked in a long time.

Easy to verify yourself - just make a level 1 human fighter (or other class that can select one of those as a bonus feat). Take all three feats, and fight that initial bug underneath Kenabres (and hope Anevia doesn't kill it before you get the chance - make a save game just in case).

Weapon finesse does nothing with scimitars. They are not a light weapon and are not included in the list of weapons in weapon finesse.

However, if you are a figher and take Fighter's Finese for the Heavy Blades group. Then you can apply dex to attacks.

Not scimitars, but the upcoming sawtoothed sabre weapon type can be used as light weapons if you take the exotic weapon proficiency feat. Or at least they do in PnP.

Just tested with Midnight Isles in combat. If it used to work, they fixed it so it no longer does.

Running all DLCs, no mods.

Well, I guess the OP will just have to test. The pic I just posted was from 5 minutes ago, and it seems to indicate that it works.

However, I don't have any of the Season Pass 2 DLC, so I guess that might affect things? Was your test using the scimitar one-handed (i.e. nothing in the off hand)?

Just as an additional check since the character sheet might not match what actually happens, I took it to the bugs. Still works.

Mea Culpa. On my first test I forgot to remove the damned shield they auto equipped.

Yeah. Dex to damage with Slashing Grace on a scimitar is working. It's a bug. But it's works.

only with fighter? can it work with a magus?

I tried it just now with no mods all DLCs. And it works.

It should work with a base magus, but you can't get all three feats at level 1. With a sword saint, it works at level 1, but you need to choose a placeholder feat. Example:

Feat 1: weapon finesse
Feat 2: alertness
Favored Weapon: scimitar
Go back to feat 2 and select Slashing Grace: scimitar

You'll need to scroll or search to find slashing grace - it was thumb's down.

why can't it work with eldritch scion?

There might be a diffrence between how it should work per pnp ruling and how it pans out in the game.

It would help if you gave some more information about your character (most certainly if you adhere to pnp rules).

As for the rules: the answer below considers your character to be a medium creatures.

Each of the above mentioned feat work out as follows:

Weapon finesse:
-A scrimitar is not a light weapon and does not belong to any other exceptions ( elven curve blade, rapier, whip, or spiked chain)

Result: wielding a scimitar does NOT allow you to add your Dexterity modifier to your ATTACK roll.

**As an added note: Weapon Finesse shouldn't be able to work with a scimitar**

Weapon focus:
-Picking this feat adds a +1 bonus to your ATTACK rolls when wielding a scimitar.

Slashing Grace:
-This feat works with a scimitar if you wield the scimitar in one hand and have no weapon. in your offhand.

Result: wielding a scimitar with this feat allows you to add your Dexterity modifer to your DAMAGE roll.

Conclusion:

Can anyone confirm once and for all that taking weapon finesse, weapon focus scimitar and slashing grace makes scimitar rolls be based on dex?

Answer: Partially; you only get to add your Dex mod to your scimitar's damage rolll NOT to its attack roll.

Nope, when you get Slashing Grace - Scimtar feat Weapon Finesse starts working for both AB and damage.
Notably there is nothing stating that Weapon Finesse will give you AB for Scimtars.
