Where are the actual mythic paths?
Idk, i feel like Owlcat had a good thing going with doing their best to replicate pathfinder in a CRPG format, but for some reason they tossed out the amazing mythic paths from Paizo to use their kinda dinky alignment/outsider based paths. In the TTRPG you get a feat every odd tier, an ability score increase every even tier, and a path ability EVERY tier, in addition to the base abilities you get regardless of tier and/or from your chosen path. Like, it's cool i can have a dragon companion, I guess, but they stripped out a lot of what makes mythic mythical. They could've at least kept the basic format of the mythic paths, but they just made it feel like some cobbled together weirdness.

I know there's not going to be a change. But i needed to share what I feel was a missed opportunity to have more mythical mythic paths.

I personally vastly prefer Owlcat's take on mythic paths. It was a genius way of getting a plot focusing framework of applying templates to the player. Paizo's take on the other hand can be summed up as mythic "prestige classes".

Though I must say some of WotR's mythic paths I am not a fan of. At all. Trickster in particular would have made more sense to be traded with a proper Protean path, if only for consistency sake with other creature type themed paths. And Legend I'd gladly throw out of the window in favor for a neutral nature themed one, fit for Druids and Shamans. Like a hypothetical Green Man[pathfinderwiki.com] mythic path where we become a sentient plant being with divine powers. But alas... gatekeeping the nature theme to a CG path of hippies was a mistake.

I do agree, having now read the AP(I have no group to play with), I think the Paths they gave here have a lot more flavor to them, and thanks to the Single Player nature of a video game, they get to tell their own stories within the story of the Fifth Crusade, allowing you to see how far outside the norm your power reaches.

I will also say, I do kind of think Trickster could have used a patron creature, as they seem the most random with just being...a Red Mage(8-Bit Theater) type, who sees the world as a game. That's fun and all, but it does make them the outlier in terms of framing.

I will however disagree about Legend. The Legend path isn't about Mythic Power, it's about the rejection OF Mythic Power, and the Triumph of a mortal woman over the things that decide to turn our world into their playground. It's also about getting back at your parent and telling them the Mythic Paths were just a phase, as well as showing off ALL the paths in a way, as Drezen becomes a clubhouse for every advisor you could have had on the other routes(With an odd focus on Azata as Aivu becomes the spokesperson for most of it).

Legend could have been interesting to me... in theory. But the way how it was represented and executed quickly devolved in game. Watering down the MC's resolve into the sad caricature of a Yes Man for Iomedae's amusement. There is no free will to be found if some goddess really, really, *really* hard wants you to turn out to be a mortal Legend. Frankly, if she weren't pushy about it I'd probably even take becoming a Legend seriously.

The ironic cherry on top is that this supposedly neutral path is anything but. You can be as good or evil, chaotic or lawful as you want on that one. Then comes the mythic portraits in full plate armor. Good for heroic, crusading knights. But not much else. But maybe that's just my utter disappointment in the path as a whole speaking. *grumbles*

imo Legend should have been part of the core offerings and not a late game swap. Give it more time to be a deity level Screw You and better roleplaying for people who want to eschew that power.

That would require a LOT of in-game information you don't get until fairly late, that even the person who removes your mythic powers doesn't know until late act 4. And your character, at the point where they choose a path, or get mythic power in the first place, would have no reason to refuse the power-up.

No more knowledge required than deciding to be a demon, or angel.. Its a choice, that is being made blindly.. Just like the others.. If it had been offered from the start, which would have been preferable, I agree

To be fair, legend requires that people in charge know to ask you to give up the power as well, and they don't. That's why Imoede only appears DURING Act 5 to make the offer, since she didn't know your power's origin anymore than you did, and she's not the kind to just stiff a mortal who's power might be their own. It's only when she learns the real origin that she makes the offer, since at that point, it MIGHT not be a good thing to be using it.
