Playing Out of Alignment
What happens in general if you play your character out of alignment- I'm lawful neutral? I just started and came to a character in which I had the choice to help her for money (evil). I didn't at first but then went back a save and tried it and got 200 gp (said I performed evil act)- outcomes seemingly same but got money and notation of evil act. My god is good. I kind of want to play it toward neutralish leaning toward evil, so I may start over only a few screens in.

Nothing much. Alignment is not set, and can change.

Reason to be wary of alignment is if you play classes that have alignment restriction
Paladin - Lawful Good
Druid - any Neutral
Monk - any Lawful
Barbarian - any non-Lawful
Cleric and Inquisitor to be in alignment allowed by their god

Then it comes into play with Mythic Paths, where you need to be in allowed alignement in act 5 to continue their progression, but you can also refuse Mythic and become Legend that has no alignment restrictions.

Warpriest is in the same boat as cleric. To be specific, any class that has access to the divine domain/blessing feature, must be without the alignment area of their deity.
Hellknight is also restricted to lawful, assassin to evil.

About alignment restriction. Any character switching in an alignment incompatible with the class can't level up in that class anymore unless they go back to an allowed alignment.
For divine spellcasters with restricted deity alignment, hellknights and paladins, they also lose their class divine powers and spells (access to domains, smite etc.).
