If you could respec everyone from level 0
What class would you make them and why?

I would make Ember an oracle. She strikes me as *far* more of an oracle sort with healing support and such. Plus the game outright says she's supported by an Empyreal Lord. Big Oracle Energy.

Daeran would be the stigmatized witch. It suits his personality and his relationship with The Other far better.

I'd respec Lann as a corpse because he's a TW@. Yes I am biased. No I don't care if he's mechanically god-tier. I hate him with a FIERY PASSION.

Camellia I'd keep as Shaman - Spirit Hunter. She's spectacular from a mechanical standpoint and if she weren't a completely unrepentant and unhinged psycho she'd be my preferred waifu.

Woljif is a magus. He merges magic and melee so well plus he's my little tiefling boo.

Arue is a bard because shut up.

So-Sosiel is lucky I keep him around, so he gets to stay as your bog-standard no frills cleric. If I'm feeling spicy I might make him an Ecclesitheurge or angelfire apostle.

Wenduag I make a ranger (demonslayer) because hunter is meh with her mental stats and slayer doesn't provide enough support options.

Nenio to me is perfect the way she is. She's my sweet little autistic baby and I will hear no criticism of her standard auto-level build.

Greybor is slayer/assassin because raisins. I don't use him much...

Trever I make an invulnerable rager.

I think you can recruit Galfrey if you romance her, but I don't so there.

Go to Hilor and hire nobodies who won't talk back then leave everyone base kit, that's how i'd respec them from 0
Soul Feb 1, 2024 @ 11:15am
yeah....no.... I think their base classes suit them just fine.... from their classes to their stats all tell a part of their stories and define their characters... changing any of em would be like changing who and what they are....

Chompy left a certain Paladin off the list - consciously or subconsciously?

Seelah is perfect the way she is. Also I just kinda forgot to put her on the list.

You don't know what 'theory-crafting' is do you?
Drake Feb 1, 2024 @ 1:48pm
They're all fine. ember is really a witch, she has the crow familiar from the grandmother crow. Daeran has its entity working for the curse and the mystery (I would change its mystery though, it's not in the game but dark tapestry would suit him better).
Arueshalae is canon in pathfinder as a ranger, so there is no changing it.

The only one that is problematic is trever, he really needs a quest in chapter 4 to change back his alignment to lawful good (like a redemption quest) so that you can use his paladin and hellknight levels, making him into the powerhouse that he should be.

Theorycrafting has nothing to do with this. This is pure roleplay. And roleplay wise, they're backstory actually all are aligned with their classes. Changing them would not make them as constistent story wise.

Yeah you got me there.

Seelah i would keep as a paladin because shes the iconic paladin. it would feel wrong making her anything else

Camellia i would keep as a shaman but would make her either much better at melee or make her more focused at ranged combat. most unfair runs have her as a ranged character.

Lann: i hate zen archers and it really doesn't fit him. i would make him a ranger. either a Nomad or a Demonslayer

Wenduag: Fighter is good for her tbh but rogue may be a better fit. Demon Dancer Skald is a bit of a stretch but i could see it too.

Woljif is fine how he is

Ember is perfect how she is though Oracle could fit as well.

Nenio is also perfect just how she is

Daeran: i would literally only swap his archetype to Purifier or possessed

Ulbrig: wouldnt change him at all

Kestoglyr: Mutation warrior. hes a dual wielder and mutagens are really good for dual wielders

Regill: would not change him

Sosiel: his class is fine. his build is trash; i would dump charisma, and maybe int for more dex and give him feats for medium armor use or set him up to be a monk multi.

Greybor: ranger or hunter. i dont like slayer. it fits him well i just dont like the class.

Arueshalae: she was a master spy in the tabletop since that class does not exist the class she was given is sort of the next best thing. alternatively id have made her a rogue.

Staunton Vhane: i have a soft spot for warpriests but i probably would adjust his stats

Delamere: ranger- hard stop. i dont know why shes not a ranger.

Ciar: i somehow never ran into him in my lich playthrough but i do have a soft spot for Cavaliers

Trever: rofl, lmao even, dude is a trash fire of a human and his backstory makes him so ♥♥♥♥. literally cant change him without re-writing him

Queen Galfrey: dumpster.

I'd respec a lot of them because some of the classes are simply trash for them.

wtf are you talking about?? lann being good? he's trash... tbh his stat distribution is pretty weird and confusing. you can use wisdom for base? but if so then why is he so good with str and dex? it's almost pointless for him... 3 points down. his stat distro forces him to spread too much. what do you even focus on? and he cannot use any styles... it's stupid that dragon style is simply not working for him. many of the monk feats are also unavailable. and those that are, are for close range. his class is broken....
I'd make him a cleric or a crusader. much better having a spellcaster that can use a bow then whatever weird thing is going on with his broken not working class.

in contrast it's almost insulting how powerful wenduag is. she is a pure fighter and the amount of feats you can give her is astounding, together with the extra BA bonus she gets from weapon training, weapon focus, greater weapon focus(which you can only get from fighter) mythic greater weapon focus and all of the ridiculous archer feats. wenduag as a pure fighter dominates the battlefield, and she isn't even melee. fighter too op even with it's simplicity.

also, wolfjiv is also trash. his class is the simple jack of all trades master of nothing. he doesn't get any special feats. he doesn't get full attack bonus. his spells need a lot of feats to start working in wotr, which you cannot waste on him because he needs them for damage, but he doesn't get access to 9 level spells... because why would you be able to? he doesn't even get full sneak attack damage. which doesn't matter anyhow since half of all enemies got improved blind fight. like, rogues are almost useless in this game, and his class is the most useless in terms of progression. respec to rogue then wizard followed by arcane trickster. the only thing eltritch scoundrel gets on arcane trickster is higher BAB but it's still 3/4 instead of full, and with arcane trickster you do touch attacks anyways, so why would you care? eldritch scoundrel is like bard without support casting. what a dumb class.

greybor? slayer is a good class, but he is slow as hell. it takes a turn and a half for him to reach the enemy, meaning he always goes second. the so called assassin can't even make the first move. and when he gets hit he dies. with his short range? he gets way too close for comfort. I'd respec him to use a long ranged weapon, like a throwing axe. but his dex isn't high enough for that sadly.

you forgot regill.
now regill is the most overpowered (prick) character in pathfinder except for the mc and maybe arueshelae. he gets to both use a two handed weapon. both use weapon finesse. and ALSO use heavy armour while keeping his dex bonus due to armour training he gets from BOTH of his classes. on top of that he gets smite chaos, which is just awsome. now, that would simply be OK if not for the fact that this mofo can get mythic feats which make him unstoppable. like mythic weapon finesse. dear god, he has full dexterity, a two handed weapon, the highest AC possible ever, the highest base attack bonus possible ever, and gets a smite from GOD>: "this is why I am better!". "predictable. the demons tried to appeal to my emotions or hidden desires. but like all good officers I have none. I am simply an unstoppable machine"

ember is a baby and deserves love and care as well as happiness. if people choose to worship her, that is the right move. all characters support her except for camelia which made the wrong choice. I'd kill for her. her class is good, and with second bloodline elemental it gets better. with a focus on dex and weapon finesse, she get to transform to an elemental and deal massive damage. she can do damage, heal and support the party, and also debuff, or go close range. she can do all of those things pretty effectively as well, without sacrificing too much, and you can still play with her on core. make her focus on evocation, give her ascendent element fire and bloodline elemental, and all spells get converted to fire damage which she deals. then use extended school necromancy, and you can get to debuff effectively as well. you can make her possibly the highest damage dealer in the game with the right feats, and one shot bosses like deskari with arcane trickster build, and sosiel and trickster mythic helping her do crits is an effective move.

arueshalae is good. especially if you get her early. her specialization into demon slayer or not doesn't matter much because she's awsome anyways, and she can still be specialized around magic based demons. you can simply use instant enemy whenever you want. you can also deal sneak attack damage. she has the highest base stats of most characters, and is the best archer hands down. not much neads to be spoken about her. she loves desna and everyone likes her.

camelia is dead to me after calling ember a filthy beggar. she is pretty good. a shame she made the wrong choice. I always kill her early on. I care not for her reasoning. she will not find forgiveness in me. insulting ember is a one way ticket to hell from which there is no return. oh yeah, she also kills people and that's bad or whatever.

sosiel is the best cleric in the game even if you give him the exact same build he gets simply because of his domain. with a mythic feat he does it as a free action. it allows him to give advantage on damage rolls and attack rolls and also a bonus on the same turn. simply for this he is the best to keep around. he can do melee for a few round and be decent in it due to the bonuses he gets from instant domain. including the spells he can use to enhance himself with. now, put him near players who can do crits and watch them roll.

You don't know what 'theory-crafting' is do you?

your original post was about if we could change them from level 0 and why... and I said that I wouldnt because it would take away from their stories....

Mmm... Okay that's a fair point, though I question why you'd reply if that were the case.

Because it´s an answer to the topic. Valid.

Topic:

I´d let them have the same classes, but being able to distribute their points from lvl 0 sounds not too bad, if i had enabled the respec option. It doesn´t make much sense to respec someone from lvl 8 onwards, which isn´t a respec. It´s only a half respec, or partial respec as we scientists say...

actually for him to make sense you'd have to delve deeper into things about his character.... which this game doesnt really outright give you the details to really understand how in depth it actually is....

Lann for instance in my view makes perfect sense from a story perspective... I mean that whole mongrels curse thing is basically a terminal illness thats incurable... the whole mental strain that would have on someone... not to mention the whole losing everyone you love because of the curse... him going the zen archer route is kinda hinted at in his dialogue when you talk to him.... how he's using mediation to try to keep his body more stable and his wariness over trusting in his physical skill with a bow alone..... he makes a comment how he's heard stories of hunters losing things like sight or grip on their bow in middle of a hunt all of a sudden..... him going zen archer is a way for him to counter something like that....

his ability scores are... str 17... dex 17... con 14... int 11... wis 17... cha 9....

str 17 is...
"Carries heavy objects with one arm"

17 dex is....
"Able to often hit small targets at a distance"

con 14 is...
"Able to labor for twelve hours most days"

int 11 is...
"Knows what they need to know to get by"

wis 17 is...
"Reads people and situations fairly well"

cha 9 is...
"Something of a bore or makes people mildly uncomfortable"

which in the story with his dialogue and all... it really does reflect on his ability scores they really show a reflection of his personality...

btw I pick Lann and keep him as a zen archer.... and stat wise I just put all into wisdom.... with 17 wisdom that balances out to 22 wisdom.... but by level 3 he uses wisdom for both ranged attack rolls and of course he gets an AC bonus if he's not wearing armor.... which you can put mage armor on him or bracers of armor and pump his AC up more allowing it to stack....

the nice thing is that him relying on wisdom to attack means size increase bonuses like enlarge person have no penalty on him.... usually size increases incur a -2 penalty to dex which would be a -1 to attack rolls and -1 to AC.... but because he uses wisdom for both ranged attack rolls and AC there really is not a negative to keeping him buffed with enlarge person....

Mmm... Okay that's a fair point, though I question why you'd reply if that were the case.

because I like the detail they put into their stories... :P

I mean sure given the info on them that is only in the game doesnt have that much detail.... but looking up things like their ability scores and such really does put the whole puzzle together into who and what type of people they are.... I think it was planned out and mapped their characters and personality pretty well...

even though some of them I dont really like... the detail they put into them is something I still respect....

not to mention their classes have scripts and dialogue with them.... sosiel using channel energy in scripts for instance..... or even his first quest dealing with the cemetery are all because of his class and goddess... they could have made that quest just about him burying his friends and the aftermath just about him as a person... but nooooo.... they made it more personal to his character with involving him as a cleric and tried to corrupt him.... really driving the stake in there to almost break him...

The thundercaller choice is a head scratcher, like she gets taken over by an evil force which somehow makes her becomes a party inspiration?

Maybe Arcane Enforcer for her? As the lich used his arcane forces to turn her into his enforcer.
