Can't seem to find any info about the adware.

Toxicity? Besides the game never has been "unsafe" to download, you probably knew how to write it in the worst way, instead SEARCHING before in the forums

And yes, the game is DRM FREE in GoG also

About a year ago I downloaded this game to start a new campaign, it was running like crap on my laptop, so I decided to check the discussions and saw the topics about spyware being added. I removed the game, formatted the disk and forgot about it till I decided to check it again, hence the topic.

It has never had spyware and the extra software that was present for less than 24 hours would not have had much performance impact. If it has performance problems on your laptop there is some other issue.

Hmm. That might explain the EULA and third party tool talk. I haven´t paid attention to this, as this is usually a thing which is standard for steam.

Good luck though. ;o)

It works without steam and no internet connection. The executable checks for steam and starts it if its installed though.

Game "adware" was only two days in July, after that, there exists the option like many other games of share inner stats and drivers functionating for improving and bug fixing. Nothing to worry about.

Thanks, was playing it on a sandbox PC. The story is unrivaled.

OP, the game is not safe. Do not download under any circumstances. In addition, you should pack your computer back in the box and ship is back to where you bought it from.

There is a option in the settings section that lets you turn off reporting. I don't think this gets mentioned enough.

Just someone who doesn't care about their privacy, thinking everyone else also shouldn't.

I have an iphone. I use Chrome (or safari, or brave, or any webkit browser).I do not have the slighest idea about how to use a firewall. But I'm safe because I use a VPN a famous youtuber recommend to me. I have a steam, uplay, EA,0 epic client service running in background.

And now I'm worry about an "adware" in a game which just happen to be open about what information they get from you.

Don't you find yourself ridiculous ?

They are still patching it but it is still buggy. I haven't run into a bug that broke the game in a long time but there are certainly things like class abilities that don't work properly (Magus ability to imbue their weapon with elemental burst property) and items which descriptions aren't accurate (Grandmaster Rod).

Using a degoogled rom xiaomi phone, main browser is librewolf with a local password manager, behind a sophos sg on premise but no sub so basic IPS and app control only. Most registration is made by a burner mail or VOIP.

Yet you use windows. And not very well as you do not seem very aware about how to manage the firewall. Thta's a thing using all the "security" tools you can find on forums, that's another thing entierely to understand what IS informatic privacy and security.

Want to impress me ? Well, do use an hardware firewall with a clear understanding of what is authorized with all blocked by default (that would nor impress me but that's a start at least. Actuallay you went from lvl 0 to lvl 0.1 maybe.... a well setup firewall would grant you a 10.... and to go higher you'll need real knowledge). But if that was the case you would never post this message as you would not care in the slightest

I commend you for beeing sensitive to privacy, now as I said collecting metadatas about how you use a specific product and beeing open about it is not the same thing at all than.... just let speak about steam collecting hardware datas. Or way worse : using Ubisoft spyware as I can see on your (open) profile you play The crew. Did you know Uplay used to scan everythig installed on you system - officially to allow users to locate their games ?
