Devarra 48 AC
Hi!!

Devarra has 48 AC and her attacks surpass my 49 AC tank... My archers (Lann and Aure) and my melee (Myself, Aivu and Greybor) fails all the time and only Ember success with spells (Daeran fire Oracle fails even with Ascendant, spell penetratiio and the Azata spell that increases spell Penetration and DC)...

I use Communal Protection from Evil, Communal resistance to fire and a lot of buffs.

So, how do you do this figth?

Thank you so much!

Cast spells to increase your attack....
smellibear Dec 16, 2023 @ 12:04pm
On my current and first core run I practically walked through it. Made all the checks, Greybor snuck up for the sneak attack, and then it was just going hard. Did you dispel her? Most bosses have a lot of spells on them and stripping them down is usually an important part of combat. Or you mentioned resistance for fire, what about fire protection?

I just defeated Devarra yesterday in two rounds. I don't say this to brag, and I'm not sure if I have useful advice to offer, either - maybe I just had luck with my rolls, after all. That said, communal Resistance to Fire and Communal Protection from Fire combined basically meant that Devarra's first action was wasted on an ineffectual fire breath. Haste was a big deal, as always. My Trickster mutagen warrior MC did a lot of damage in both the first and second round. Arushelae who already had Hurricane Bow cast beforehand cast Instant Enemy and Sense Vitals in the first round and finished the job in the second round before Devarra got to act again. As I said, I may have just gotten lucky with the rolls, I didn't pay that close attention to it, but I'm just telling what worked for me. Aside from the MC and Aru, my party consisted of Seelah, Regill, Daeran and Nenioh. Nenioh and Daeran didn't have a change to do much more than buffs, Seelah didn't do much, and Regill also did some damage. Mutagen warrior MC and Arushelae were definitely the stars of the fight, albeit helped along by the buffs cast by Daeran and Nenioh.

I'll add that I was level 12 when I fought Devarra. What level are you?
Immortal Reaver Dec 16, 2023 @ 12:21pm
I make her target the tank who also has Fire Immunity Shirt, have Daeran on Healing duty for physical attacks that damage tank.
Then I just rely on Metamagiced Rays from Ember and occasional crit.

I usualy have Seelah for Mark of Justice, Ember for Evil Eyes, Daeran for healing, Arue Instant Enemy + Sharing it, Quarry + Ring that reduces 2AC on target of Quarry.
This is -6 AC, and + around + 8 AB, meaning you would need to effectively hit 34 AC compared to now.

I don't remember her having this high AC, does she have some buffs? If so, dispel them. Stripping monsters of shields and blurs does wonders.

The first level spell Snowball does a number on her. Bypasses spell resistance, attacks her (very low) touch AC, and does cold damage (her vulnerability).

No, I didn't dispel her. I will try (I have dispel on Ember, Daeran and myself) and hope it works, thanks!!

This figth I don't have haste I had to drop Nenio for Greybor (and he "miss" all the time, even with study enemy and unrelented ussualt mythic)
Aure with that bow, that buffs you say the mythic to get more AC when miss
... missing all the time
Only Daeran and Ember (Ascendant elemental fire, spell Penetration and evocation focus) hit her (and good damage), but the dragón has 4XX hp

Evil eyes is a hex? I spent them on luck, protective ward, etcétera...

I use the option of more strong enemies, maybe is for that?

S**** both my casters are focus on fire (Daeran Fire Oracle and Ember) at least they have evocation Focus and spell Penetration

2 big ways of increasing AB are Mark of Justice and Cleric Domains.
You dont have a paladin, so thats out.

What domains does your cleric have? Good ones for this are Good/Madness/Community for example.

There are other spells like greater heroism that increase AB as well. And of course buffing stats like strength.

A bonus to AB (and AC) often has a type (sacred, morale...), they only stack if they are different types.

Just as an example, if you swapped grybor with seelah and your cleric had just community domain, you would, just from Mark of Justice and Cleric Community ability get clerics wisdom bonus and the paladins charisma bonus on ALL attacks from everyone. And dont forget you can buff wisdom and charism scores too!

This is why in this game, the combat is more strategic than tactical. Its your strategy how you set up your party that decides your success, not so much your tactical combat decisions.

You can buy it in Drezen. I always buy it as first thing when I start act 3. Jeweler has it, I think or merchant near him.
Yeah Evil Eye is great as it can debuff AC, AB and saves by - 4 (which is 20% unless enemy is so much stronger, which maybe Devarra is). Best thing is that Camelia's Evil Eye stacks with Ember's so you can weaken enemies together by - 8. Then Camila can get Hampering Hex which also stacks with Evil Eye and reduces AC by another -4. And you can keep them going forever with Chant and Cackle.

I have Community Domain, exactly what I need?

I use bless and Prayer for everyone and self-buffs for Aure and those of Cleric for myself

I am using Greybor because Its his quest, so I can't change him

I don't have any of them... I spent their hexes to luck, ward and protective Hex... S***

community domain has that hearth ability starting at lvl 8, you just plop it down.

Bless is the most basic AB buff, maybe you have access to some better ones?

For these hard bosses you need...something. Bards, Paladins, Hexes, more domains, more combat buffs, etc...Something more than just autoattacking them.
Im sure you find something.
Dre Dec 17, 2023 @ 3:33pm
Are you playing turn based? Dragons gave me lots of problems in turn based because their breath attack, but in real time mode were a bit better. Use dispel magic, buff resistances, try hexes or tihngs that affect to her AC and don´t understimate magic missle

I spent several minutes buffing, I am well protected but I miss a lot.

I have tried dispel as previously recommended but not even with spell Penetration and the Azata buff I get it

Always turn-based, real time bored me, but I will try

Dispel Magic always fail even with spell Penetration and the Azata Buff to spell Penetration

Anyway, I have defeated her already... Thanks to evocation from Daeran and Ember, the other one... Miss
