season pass 1 contains.... inevitable access.... through the ashes.... and midnight isles...
inevitable access can be played as part of the campaign at the end of the game... beating a certain boss on certain difficulties offers rewards on subsequent playthroughs.... so you could switch to unfair mode right before that boss and beat him... and get the rewards for unfair and below on folllowing playthroughs... you get a ability for just beating that DLC however.... as for rewards those would be "rifts" that are in fixed locations starting in Act 2 that appear...
midnight isles can be started in main campaign in Act 3... each Act introduces a new set of isles to complete... so you could either do Act 3 set of isles.... and Act 4 set of isles when reaching Act 4.... and Act 5 set of isles when reaching Act 5.... or.... you could just play through game and do all the isles when you reach Act 5..... though I wouldnt recommend it... some items in the isles are VERY VERY VERY good.....
through the ashes is standalone... the first part does give like a item or something in base game... not a big deal kinda thing... but after a lot of feedback the season pass 2 version "lord of nothing" adds a lot more connection to the main campaign... with more items and stories converging...
as for season pass 2.... it contains the last sarkorians... lord of nothing... and an unreleased 3rd DLC....
first off lord of nothing.... its just a continuation of through the ashes.... but after feedback they made it so that you can import your lord of nothing save into main campaign and they'll show up in the main campaign to have their stories converge.... and you get more items in the main campaign from it... think its beating a certain boss on varying difficulties like inevitable access does... same trick applies...
as for last sarkorians... it adds a new companion with a unique class that no one else can pick... as well as a questline for him and some really good items down the road...
the final unreleased DLC is already stated it will be in main campaign and will help expand more on options to have romance as well as a mystery going on... or something... so looks like it kinda beefs up with more things to do in Act 5 probably...
TL;DR: only through the ashes and lord of nothing is standalone you'd have to play in order to benefit into main game... the rest can be reached or contains content that can be accessed within the main game itself..... dont have to play standalone to gain their benefits...
1. Inevitable Excess: gives a buff (10 min per day) and some additional loots if you beat certain boss on highher difficulties. (no new dungeon quest etc)
2. Through the ashes: some early game loot (no new dungeons quests etc)
3. Midnight isles: A very long dungeon first part unlocks on act 3, second part unlocks on act 4, and last part unlocks on act 5.
4. Last sarkonian: A new companion, new playable class (shifter), a new zone and a quest tied to that zone and the companion. THis Dlc is completely embedded into main campaign.
5. Lord of nothing: This DLC is the second part of through the ashes dlc. You continue your adventure of the through the ashes with through the ashes character and its companions. its impact on main campaign is some new archetypes, a new dungeon (boss fight) and loot.
6. New dlc will be a part of main campaign also, like the last sarkonian. Its name and relase date are not specified yet but you can sometimes see community call it to "citadel dlc" refering to Mass Effect 3's citadel dlc since owlcat (developer) announced that the dlc will take place in Kenabres (starting city) in act 5.
Treasure of Midnight Isles also has standalone RNG dungeon crawler mode. It has very little story.
Through the Ashes - standalone, adds Metamagic Wand to main game after completing DLC
Lord of Nothing - standalone, but it adds 1 dungeon and some items from DLC to main game after completing DLC, new archetypes. You can upgrade Metamagic Wand from Through the Ashes.
Inevitable Excess - Happens right before final boss fight. It is standalone but connected to story of main game. It adds things mentioned by others.
