Lord of Nothing Plane of Shadow Question

I am playing through Lord of Nothing and am part way through dungeon in the shadow plane. I am stuck on what I assume is a puzzle where there's a cloud of shadow in a room full of trophies from the kyton's victims. When I interact with the cloud I get this text, "The clouds of impenetrable darkness thicken, as if playing with you. Something seems to be hiding in the gloomy haze..." Now I thought this would disperse with the lanterns like the blocked doors in the upper floor, but that isn't working. I can't think of anything else to try currently, and I'm wondering if anyone has figured out the solution here. I couldn't find anything about this area online.

Yea I'm stuck there too. I'm certain it has to do with the faded notes regarding the Paladin of Shelyn. I've tried the lantern, light cantrip, pillar of life. No luck

True Seeing spell or scroll will make you "see".

I went through without knowing any tricks. I made a post about how I passed through there. Just recently.

One more question. Where is the mirror shard?

there is a area you have to dimension door to, takes multiple casts. I cant remember exactly where I believe its by the door you have to open by choosing a character to receive pain (you may have to fight the shadow dragon in the next area first idk for sure on that), and just an fyi the boss in the mirror is insane, drink every buff potion, use every buff scroll, cast every spell you can before the fight XD
