jesus wtf is this character creation menu
that's more reading and comprehension than doing a law degree at harvard. they need to trim it down just a notch. it's way too overwhelming. are you supposed to understand any of these choices you make? I for one don't know wtf i'm doing. especially the "feat" option, there's, what, a million choices there? how am i supposed to pick?

Also: what is the vegan sign next to some of the options in character creation mean? the green "V".

you can just use the recommended level up options in feats if you don't know the system. the game is designed for people who are fans of the pathfinder system and I don't think its reasonable for them to water all of those customisation possibilities down for newer players who can just read one guide on the internet to learn the game.

You'd fail SPECTACULARLY at the tabletop game.

is this real??

Game is designed for people who have played/like the tabletop design who don't think reading is a chore

the Green V is a recommended choice you can just pick them throughout the entire game and not have an issue

Its possible that the pathfinder games are NOT aimed at you and that's fine...not every game appeals to every person

I bought the game on release and must have spent 5/6 hours in character creation just trying to figure out the same things about the classes I wasn't familiar with. I was unaware of what Pathfinder was until the game was released so went in blind. It was overwhelming. But now I can't get enough. I have installed lots of mods that added even more classes and its great.

My advice is give it time. Pick a simple class for your first playthrough for example fighter, paladin, wizard or cleric and just enjoy the game.

first time player would definitely want to play a class who can do a bit of everything... paladin, oracle, cleric, scion come to mind but you get a paladin, oracle and cleric in the base game as companions.

man alive, the tabletop is even more complicated? how tf do people manage that?

Well the thing is no one comes into it knowing everything (unless they played table top). I bought Kingmaker once and refunded it because I felt overwhelmed. A few years later this game dropped and it looked cool, so I bought it. It takes a lot of googling and redditing to learn, so I don't blame anyone for not trying. That said, it's a ton of fun and once you have a solid grasp of the rules you can do fun stuff. Up to the person whether they care enough to learn it.

If your dopamine receptors aren't fried from overusing your phone, you will not consider learning the rules for a little bit to be that demanding

Not the easiest entry game into tabletop D&D games. These games were made by nerds for nerds - people who generally enjoy reading and creating complex worlds with infinite choices were working for decades on building upon what they made, Pathfinder WotR is a game in which You got quite a bit of that tabletop manuals encapsulated into a game.

As others said - use recomended builds on easier difficulty setting if You don't know what You're doing, don't have experience in such games and don't like to read.

The "vegan" sign means that the feat you select did not cause any harm of any kind during development of the game.

It's safe even for members of PETA.

Don't worry, many had the same.

Just read each description and everything will be okay. You can also check on a pathfinder's rules on websites.

The "v" means that the stat/skill/etc is very important for your perso.

But you can make your choice by
- do you want magic or not ?
If yes, wich magic ? Wich kind ?
If no, see an fighter, meele combat or range one ?
If no, do you want a rogue ?
Maybe both magic and or fighter ? Or maybe an healer or a curser ?
Etc etc

For my first run on gog, I passed many hours on it and still retry. I go with a bard because I don't like doublon on team but it is my taste.

It is just a game, if you don't like your perso, restart ^^

On a more serious note, though...

Bard or Sorcerer is a great choice for your first character. Gets you tons of charisma and you can easily be face of the party.

Don't bother with melee, you get at minimum 4 serious melee companions to choose from (and one that is a bad joke, but this only happens in act 4 so this guy doesn't matter anyway).

Character creation and building is my favorite part of the game so I'm going to have to disagree with you op

Some of us are here BECAUSE of that depth! Go play BG3, if this is too much to grasp.
