Best weapon types to melee cleric
Hi!!

I pretend to play a Cleric with divine power, shield of faith, etcétera self buffs, so I would like to know which weapon types are good in this game through all Gameplay, not just a weapon type that end-game has an amazing weapon but the resto of the run (specially early-mid) there por choices... I like one-handed warhammers and maces, but I really don't care if that weapon type has good options early and mid game (and late some), because I CAME from NWN2 right now and my morningstar weapons decay end-game and ended with no good options, so I want to avoid soecializing in this game in a type of weapon with no good options

First, when you get to Defender's Heart tavern in act 1 go to basement, free companion from jail, do his quest and during it (or later in the act if you miss it), you can loot Finnean the talking weapon, that changes weapon type to whatever the character can wield. This is good for whole Act 1, and cca half of act 2.

Maces and Warhammers should be good.

Bastard Sword, but only for Lawful Good, Lawful Neutral or Neutral Good characters (otherwise you lack +2 enchanted BS for most of act 2). You can buy it at the start of Act 2.
Flail only for Evil characters as it is lacking other +2 version. You also need to use feat for Exotic Weapon Proficiency.

Longsword would be good, but Black Fang +3 you can buy from the start of act 2 is expensive (72 000 and you cannot steal, meaning you can buy this near the end of act 2 and maybe you will not be able to afford anything else, I think you can get cca 85k gold in act 2, meaning you might not be able to buy anything else), and it is lacking +2 versions in act 2 (I think you get only one or two generic +2 Longsword, until the very end of the act).

In Act 3 and onwards, they put in good selection for all weapons everywhere. So you might choose to delay focusing on 1 weapon for that point, and until then use whatever is best at the time.

Grave Singer - it's a +2 great axe. At character creation choose background regional - warrior of linnorm kings so that you'll get the great axe proficiency for your cleric.

During act 2 use your army to defeat the demon army to acquire unholy symbol of rovagug relic. During act 3 you'll get a bunch of decree to eventually unlock grave singer.

Use greater magic weapon spell to buff yourself when you use this great axe to increase the damage. This great axe will last you thru the end.

In the meantime you can use finnean or Blocker ( dropped from minataur in gray garrison) until you get grave singer

Longswords are not cleric weapons unless the god's favored weapon is the longsword (ie- Iomedae).

Sorry, I forgot that flail is Heavy Flail and therefore is two-handed.
But as I said Act 3 and onward has everything.

I also am now checking as I write this and these are good choices one-handed melee weapons in act 2 based on representation of better than generic +2.

Heavy Mace. Warhammer, Light Hammer, Falcata, Dwarven Waraxe, Dagger, Rapier, Scimitar, Longsword, Sai, Tongi, Estoc. Bastard Sword only if you are LG, NG or LN.
Each has one unique in act 2 before final dungeon.

Also you can get more money than 85k I said, if you do not hoard weapons nobody uses (forgot I hoarded unique weapons and armors and 85k is from selling non-uniques, if you sell them you get another like 50-60k).

Again sorry I read that without the negative and thought you wanted good early and mid game option.

Depending how you do Finnean quest, if you do Good choice he will turn into Longsword, if not he keeps his shapeshifting. So that can be Longsword as best weapon.

Otherwise all weapons have good endgame selection.
