So... how does one... do that? I'm currently standing inside a pillar of light, i have a standard action to spend, and i'm not finding anything on any of my ability bars or anywhere saying "touch pillar of light".

Sitting at seven hitpoints... could reaaaallllyy use some of that healing right now.

The issue with PoL is that you can only get healed from it once. It makes it sound like it is some fountain you can drink from whenever you have an action but really it is on once per character per cast. You can cast it directly onto someone or run into it to trigger a heal. However, if you touch the spell with 100% hp, it will still trigger the effect thus locking them out from using it again.

Thread answer. It's meant more as an undead chokepoint cooker that happens to heal allies once as a bonus effect.

Good question, would like to hear an answer to that too.

I usually forget about this spell except Playful Darkness encounter (optional boss in Midnight Fane) and in that case it hits him every round as long as he stands in it. So, while I haven't really use it for healing, I would try to skip round while standing in its area of effect (or just wait if this is out of combat scenario).

The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.
