Can't start/trigger Cusp of the Abyss quest - SPOILERS

Hi all, SPOILERS Alert

As you see from the topic, I'm stuck on triggering the quest from Hand of the Inheritor.

I have the Key of the Abyss and I already finished Know Thy Enemy quest. Yet when I start the dialog with the Hand of Inheritor, it's does not start nor does it show any convers about the Cusp of the Abyss quest.

Knowing that I had the key before exploring the Ivory, I don't know it that missed up my game.

I need help plz.

The quest doesn't appear in the journal at all? If Know Thy Enemy is complete, On the Cusp of the Abyss should be in your journal - it starts automatically in dialogue after the boss battle.

Is the quest in your journal but you can't make progress, and if so, are you trying to talk to the Hand while you're still in the Ivory Sanctum? If that's the case, go back to Drezen.

On final suggestion - in the cut scene back at Drezen, the Hand mentions Xanthir's notes. That's an actual item from the Ivory Sanctum. Maybe you need to pick it up and read it? I highly doubt that's the case, though; I think the notes are optional (unless pursuing the Swarm path) and hidden behind dialogue choice.

@forkofspite, On the Cusp of the Abyss is shown in the journal, and I've already talked with the Hand in Drezen, yet no dialog about the quest at all.

I even talked to him about the angel I saved from the Laboratory, but no dialog about the quest is shown.

I have already finished the Ivory and scoured every inch of that place and read every book and note from that place, except the Xanther Experiment Decree, haven't done that because I think it's for the Swarm path.

Any other ideas? or is it a bug?

What does quest say?

There should have been a cut scene with the Hand, Irabeth, and maybe others when you return to Drezen after the Ivory Sanctum. After that cut scene, the "Locate the Midnight Fane" objective should be complete, and you're given a new objective: "Wait for the Queen to arrive and remove the demonic seal". If that's what your journal indicates, all good - just wait (and maybe finish other quests while you wait).

However, if your journal still indicates you need to locate the Midnight Fane, check your mythic quests. Make sure they are all complete.

The quest says Locate the Midnight Fane and it's already marked as completed.
But there isn't anything after that.

I had the cut scene where Irabeth was taking with the Hand then I start a normal questions with the Hand but nothing about the demonic seal.

I skipped over a month incase something is screwed, yet nothing happens.

The mythic quest I think it's for the Trickster path. I'm on Azata path and in Rank 4.

Mythic quests:

* Have you completed Above the Clouds?
* Have you completed Where Your Soul Calls?

Those are the only two mythic quests you should have at this point, and this is based on mostly recent experience (version 2.1.x, but without the Last Sakorians DLC). I'm not 100% certain you need to actually complete those quests, but it certainly wouldn't hurt.

Yes, I have already completed both mythic quests.

I'm also afraid that the Last Sakorians DLC have something to do with On the Cusp of the Abyss. If that's true, how can I start the DLC while it is only can be started on Act 1?

and to think that I have do a fresh start? that is out of the question :)

In Act 3, the Last Sakorians DLC starts with a command table audience.

Regarding On the Cusp of the Abyss, my only other suggestion is the free crusaders. Have you met Sir Wardrobe, Sir Footstool, and Sir Cultist's Bed yet? The mimics are the last of the free crusaders that you'll meet in Act 3 before the Midnight Fane - or, at least, they were the last that I met in Act 3 before the Midnight Fane.

How does the Last Sakorians DLC start on the Command Table?

Yes I met the 3 mimics and added them to my army.

I have finished every quest I have on the journal, "except the ones that only continue on the later acts", I have cleared the map from every enemy fortress, and visited every place on the map as well.

I have no idea what to do next, I'm baffled.

I'm out of ideas. You're supposed to have a cut scene dialogue with the Hand, Irabeth, and Aivu. For me, that happened automatically when I entered Drezen after the Ivory Sanctum. I already had the key from Suture, and both mythic quests were complete.

That is what's weird. because I was already in position of the key, and had the cut scene with Irabeth and Aivu with the Hand, except no dialog about the demonic seal and such.

I guess I'll have to wait if there a new patch that could fix my problem.

Finally, found a way around my ridicules problem.

I guess it's not the best method, but I was frustrated.

I've installed ToyBox mod into the game, and advanced the quest to the demonic seal dialogue.

Now the Hand told me to wait for the queen for a month or I could skip ahead cuz I'm on Azata's path :)

Hope anyone who ran into the same issue as mine know now that there is always a way :D

HOW did you advance the quest?

I have the same issue and am looking for specific steps on how to advance this. I have toybox installed but when I go to the "On the cusp of the abyss" quest i just have a "Complete" button.

Any help gratefully accepted.

During Know Thy Enemy quest, the boss of the Ivory Sanctum dungeon will tell you where the midnight fane is. You talk to the Herald of Iomedae about its location and he will inform the Queen then you will have to wait a month for her to show up at the war room in drezen. Until then just do side missions and explore until she arrives.
