Can't open the first chest in the cave [RESOLVED]

Right click, left click, double right/left clicks nothing works, I'm just unable to interact with the chest, I have reloaded the game, close the game, started a new playthrough and I just can't advance, can't get past the first 2 minutes of gameplay...any ideas, anyone?

Where is it? Is it after you meet Seelah and Anavia? There is one box that I know of that early in the game, that has some cheap weapons in it and a bit of armor. If you hold down "Tab", it should highlight anything you can interact with in yellow. Is the chest highlighted? some things that LOOK like lootable items are just decorative.

Yeah that very same chest can't be opened, can't interact with it, it's highlighted and it says loot yet it does not respond to any interaction, and when I try to move on the game sends me back to the chest to get a weapon

I do have some mods installed so I might try to play the game without them, I'm using:
- Companion respec
- enhanced inventory
- expanded content with it's dependencies

Another thing to check is if the "inspect" button somehow got activated (Second button on the lower row of the control panel) - that can prevent looting from working in some cases.

I do have some mods installed so I might try to play the game without them, I'm using:
- Companion respec
- enhanced inventory
- expanded content with it's dependencies

Companion respec is an older mod, and might be broken. I recomend using "Toybox" which allows you to companion respec. Also has lots of tweaks and quality of life features, if you think you can keep yourself from using it's very extensive cheat menu, it's a very handy mod.
Especially great if something breaks in your save, Toybox can fix it for you. Or if you make one singular wrong dialogue choice that seemed inconsequential and it makes you lose out on a companion/unique/ending/mythic path later on down the line (happens a lot) you can use toybox to fix that rather then starting over. Some may consider that cheating, but I don't see much of a difference between doing that or spending another 2 hours restarting.

Yeah you might be right I got the game working again by uninstalling all mods, my inventory was a blank page, so I guess I couldn't loot anything if I did not have an inventory, so yeah I will continue testing to see exactly what mod broke the game, will definitely start with companion respec and give toy box a try, thx

The Toybox mod has most of the features of Enhanced Inventory now, if you want an up-to-date replacement.

you are right, uninstalling character respec and enhanced inventory fixed the game for me, everything is working fine now. Thx.
