Like i tried making a Full Neutral Damphir Sorceror Summoner Azata on my first run
My second i am making a Neutral Evil Tiefling Sorceror Lich
My third i will probably do a Rider or something like that as Aeon
And so on as long as the concept is kept i will do it
Personally I like to headcanon a lot regardless of build viability for higher difficulty settings. I found the most interesting characters in my playthroughs tend to be "sub optimal" builds with intentional drawbacks. The more quirks, the better.
There's a ton of classes that will mesh with either path. The most obvious to me would be a Cleric Crusader, or Paladin for angel. For demon I think Barbarian or Alchemist Vivisectionist would fit well.
There's literally dozens of options for every path that can work well, it's one of the main reasons I still play this game.
Lets say you think lore wise the assassin class sounds cool to play but gameplay wise you don't like it. You think gameplay wise a standard rogue is better. So you have a choice there between lore/story vs gameplay.
Or what if you want to be a wizard specialized in a school that you think is cool lore wise but you don't like the spells in that school and think a different wizard school would be more effective and fun to play. So again you have to choose between gameplay vs lore/story.
I would personally choose Gameplay because even tough cutscenes could look weird you will spend most of the time in the actual game doing things of the game unless it is on the table top then it is for the RP because you can just die and be something else
The "meta" right now is bloodrager.
What difficulty are you playing?
Normal and below, it doesn't really matter what class/party composition you have.
I suffer from indecision paralysis with games like this.
I settled after LOTS of research to do Bard or Skald. Skald is great for melee centric parties because it shares rage powers. Bard is well, a bard and great support.
Your character will become the knight commander of the 5th crusade.
So do a class that synergies with that title.
Pick a class and role not already filled by your party.
Bard is one of those classes that no main companion fills.
There's also a lack of dedicated tank, Seelah being the only true main tank.
Also, what mythic path you plan to go somewhat matters aesthetically.
For example, Azata is chaotic good, freedom fighter type mythic path. Bard really synergizes with that.
Angel? Paladin.
Demon? Barbarian
Lich? Witch.
etc. etc.
thats kinda why when I do my crossblooded sorcerer I dont dip and stay whole 20 levels.... sure I could maximize it and all doing dips into other classes to make it better.... but lore wise it just hard to branch off.... crossblooded makes sense cause of storyline to me.... and dipping into other classes out in the middle of nowhere for my MC is like "why and how did I decide to suddenly become a wizard all of a sudden?...."
as for why crossblooded...
meaning they can be artificially made... though something say like an experiment...
