yeah... im not sure how the xp is calculated in this game for enemies.... but I think when you inspect the enemies you can see if you scroll down how much experience they will give upon defeat...
Course if they gave you the EXP you were meant to get you'd be level 20 by the end of act 2... because of there insane need to throw ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ at you. Honestly i wish they just took EXP away and gave level ups at certain intervals. Its kind of what they do anyway but least the whole EXP debate would be less apparent.
Edit: i think what bugs me the most is these encounters reward you with jack all.
But the Vrock doesn't drop that shield in fact if you do things in the wrong order that shield will never drop at all. The shield drops off the soldier who dies fighting the vrock when he spawns. So the Vrock himself has no treasure, no reward and is worth no real exp... alot of fights in both this and kingmaker have that issue. I remember killing the shambling mound in chapter 1 of kingmaker and getting like 15 exp... and no loot at all.
Basically i don't mind having tough side enemies but at least make them worth while. You're free to argue the shield is the vrocks treasure but i just whole heartedly disagree since if you can miss out on it if you mess up the order of things despite summoning the vrock.
the real reward is my OCD is satisfied cause I managed to clear the area.... knowing one enemy still stands is not satisfactory.... lol
"Ember, you did WHAT? Guess we should clean this up..."
its from the knights that the Vrock ends up killing that were standing nearby there...
on a crpg, it can send dozens and dozens and hundreds of enemies at you in the course of a single session, because the computer can handle the dice rolls and all the maths etc. . so it's likely that they reduced xp per enemy for that reason.
