I just reinstalled recently, and I read through the Terms of Service. There is language about Owlcat getting your system specs and play statistics of WOTR that's claimed to stay in-house with Owlcat. In addition, there are toggles in the options once you run the game to disable sharing of data, including save game files. There is no mention anywhere that I saw (unless I somehow missed it) of any other data on your computer being accessed.

I won't say I like the idea of any outside entity getting access to any part of my computer at any time without me expressly allowing it at the exact moment it's happening, but this kind of thing is hardly new and is actually pretty common. At the minimum, any internet connection means a possibility of a breach. Beyond that, I can't say this program is any more of a risk than simply browsing without special knowledge of how to hide your data/ISP masking etc. tldr, most people won't have any problems with this program in the least regarding data breach by unintended parties.

Here, unauthorized data collection is still unethical. However, I understand what you mean. Even our voices are listened to and data is recorded. I don't like when a game company does this anyway.

in this games case whats being collected is things like when you send a bug report it can send data about things like hardware your using and the bug to help find the problem.... they do allow you to opt out of that if you want though in the options but its just not the default option to opt out...

as for the "spyware" thing... it was an app that a lot of companies have been using for a while apparently... like amazon and google for instance... they removed it due to backlash from community... like the same day they installed it they removed it...

which regardless of whether it should be argued as "spyware or not"... their actions to listen to the community were I think good... I mean they could have tried doubled down or something but instead they listened to the fans and reacted quickly to what the fans wanted... not a lot of companies nowadays would really stand up for their fans like that...

Fine, I wanted to play the game. Then I can install and start.

There will also be an unrelated question. Do I need to play the first game before starting the second game?

No. There is at least one character appearing in both games that mentions some events from previous, but there are no sync between the two. Note will also be just a generic one, not reflecting what actually happened.

You are good to go without playing the Kingmaker.

I would say if you are not used to the Pathfinder tabletop system you might want to give Kingmaker a try first if you are debating which to buy. Kingmaker is a bit more forgiving when it comes to game difficulty and needing to understand the system to build a strong character. The kingdom management portion can be frustrating due to limited ability to react to every event and some things occur on timers that you must respond to promptly.

I bought both. I played Pathfinder's Table-Top game. So I want to experience pc game. However, it sounds like it would be good to start from the first game to warm up.
