Overall I find it difficult to find accurate information about how Midnight Isles work. For example I can't tell if all characters get a mythic path or just the main one.
This party does not have too much longer left in it then, M3 iirc is the highest you get in the first set. If you have not been getting any nodes that give a bonus level on your next run already, you might want to grab a couple of those if you can. At the end of the day, the mode is meant more as a rogue like then a party builder. You get modifiers on subsequent runs so depending on what they are, could change what characters you want to make.
Angel Oracle is always a strong choice, the buffs, offensives spells and merge spell book are just way too good. When you say all characters getting m paths, you mean the mercs you get to hire/get? They should work like companions in the campaign.
Out of curiosity, what happens at the end of a run? Is it when all your characters die?
Another question: Is it true that the chest from the boat persists between runs? If so, I assume I should drop the gear I'm not using into it in order to make the next run easier?
Yes. I haven't progressed much in the campaign so I can't tell if that's the same. I was wondering if mercenaries only get mythic levels or if they can get mythic paths as well (e.g. Angel, Azata etc).
Sorry for the noob questions. I couldn't find these answers on the wiki. (maybe I didn't look in the right place though)
At the end of the run your party goes to live on the big farm happy ever after :)
There is a persistent chest but not for saving gear you find in the run. There are some lore items you get after killing bosses that will stay in them. TBh I can't remember if any gear shows up or not, been a long time since I did mni runs.
