When some great event happens and the people are celebrating? that's voiced over.
When you move from one chapter to another? voiced over.
When you meet a very powerful figure who doesn't get a lot of screentime? Almost every line they say is voiced over.
It's primarily the mundane chit-chat that's not voiced over. no real reason to have a voiceover for Seelah's entire backstory when talking to her in the tavern, that's long, wordy, and can just be text. Better to reserve that budget for when something major is happening like in the first few minutes when you're trapped in a cave during a demon invasion.
(Nebenbei bemerkt: sei doch froh und dankbar, dass Du das komplette Spiel auf Deutsch spielen kannst. Die Italiener können es beispielsweise nicht in ihrer Muttersprache spielen... .)
There was no section on the store page that mentions any of the game is voiced over. So you can hardly claim its misleading.
20% is about right. But consider this game is huge. They save the voice acting for the important stuff. But even in the first two hours it's more than apparent that you'll have to do some reading. Its a very text heavy game.
Yeah confirming this for you. It's only significant events and dialogue that are voiced mainly from significant characters but not entirely, and since some parts of the game have more filler than others that can mean more or less dialogue depending on where you are. It doesn't just stop after 2 hours though.
Significant events and important persons - voiceovers and portraits are kind of spoilers for me in this case. You dont know what will happen but just because of that you will know their importance. Not saying its big deal but still.
True. I didn't consider the language table. Although my interpretation of that listing (on any steam game) has always been: 'If stuff is voiced. its voiced in this language."
But I can see interpreting it as everything. As you say, its misleading. But by Valve, not Owlcat.
"tell me more about the history of your people" dialogue options responses are not.
Random vendors and stage directions are not.
I like this system tbh. It's a nice balance between the important narrative stuff and key character moments, without driving me insane. I don't need a narrator to read "X glances up from her book" out loud. I grew to really despise the narrator in Pillars of Eternity lol
You are right, there is no section on the store page that mentions anything regarding the game being voiced over. What confused me was that all of the playthroughs I saw had voice acting, so I got excited for it - I watched just a bit to avoid spoilers as I mainly wanted to know more about the game. I should have researched the game better, but I think the developers could also clarify this in the product's description.
I want to mention that, perhaps I should have worded my message better, I just feel angry because not having voice over is a bit drawback for me - I know it is not objectively bad that there is no voice over.
Thank you for your response and clarification. This game seems like a fantastic game, just the fact that there is no voice acting puts me a little bit behind the fence...
It's not really a spoiler at all with how RPGs work. People with names and unique models are important, they'll also be the ones who're voiced. Etc.
Nothing specific was mentioned, you'll be fine.
