Saddle Up bug?
I did some research before I'm posting here, haven't seen any discussion on this specific issue.

So, right now, Saddle Up remains greyed out for some reason. For context, it is a halfling cavalier with a level 11 velociraptor mount, so it's a small character for a medium mount, that checks out. I'm in a wild area, currantgen specifically, though I've gone to other wild areas like lost chapel and jester's smile and the issue remains, can't mount up. I have 3 other characters with mounts that the issue is not present with.

The ONLY thing I can think of that may be causing this is my mount having gotten severely level drained to the point of death (LOTS of wights and corpulent spirits with level draining touch attacks. So much bad touch). But those have all been restored since then, and again, the velociraptor is showing as a medium mount.

Any advice? Or am I just screwed with a bunch of dead mounted combat feats?

While I haven't played a halfling with a velociraptor, I did an entire playthrough as a Tiefling Gendarme with a horse. And from that I can tell you there's no area you can fight in that you can't saddle up in. Indoors, outdoors, wild, abyss, wherever.

The only spots you can't mount are rest areas (Defender's inn, Comanders camp, Drezen etc.)

Level drain shouldn't have any effect on that. Since it just gives penalties over actually removing levels. But I was using mounts that were the right size since level 1 so who knows.

So I'm going to guess you got bugged. If you don't get better advice from someone else, I'd do a respec and see if that fixes the issue.

I'll give that a shot if it comes down to it. Just a bit frustrating since the halfling+velociraptor mount is an absolute blender, and when they're apart the halfling is just struggling to get around and the velociraptor is still GOOD but not obscenely so.

Before I manually removed the Saddle Up icon from my hotbar, it was grayed out as you describe. The action is missing from the appropriate menu (but the character sheet still lists it as an ability).

That issue is not mine at all. The saddle up icon is there on the taskbar for me, but it's darkened. I'm only at mythic rank 3, and the trickster path doesn't have a dragon or anything like that.

Much like your raptor, Aivu is a mount - you are describing the exact same situation that happened to me. It's darkened because, for whatever reason, Saddle Up has been removed from the menu of abilities (even though it's still listed as an ability on the character sheet).

Like you, I also have a character (Seelah) with a mount where this hasn't happened, so I have no idea what caused this. You're probably correct in that the bug is at least related to the mount's death. My character's mount was temporarily unavailable due to a quest rather than death, but after finishing that quest, the Saddle Up icon was darkened and couldn't be selected.

As workaround Toybox has an option to allow mounting anything, and another to allow mounting even if the size difference isn't enough.

Checking one/both should do the trick.

So. I went in and looked, and yes, somehow, after going into the weird council meeting filled with gods and demons and such, saddle up HAD been removed. I even went back to a save i made immediately before i went in, saw it there, loaded up a save after, and it was gone. I fixed it by respeccing, as the first response suggested.

I have had this same bug in my playthrough, also as a Trickster. Playing as a Cavalier, it's quite problematic. I fixed it using Toybox as well, but not by fully respeccing, since this is a recurring bug for me.

I went to Party -> Main Character -> Features -> Saddle Up.

I clicked "Remove" and searched "Saddle" to re-add this *Feature* to fix this.
Removing and adding the *ability* did not work for some reason.

I know the discussion is old, but it is the top google search result for this bug. I thought I would provide an easier workaround.
