Magical Unarmed Strikes without being a Level 7 Monk
Title

Is it possible? I have a vision of an Instinctual Warrior barbarian in my head that goes bare-handed, but I'd really like to know if it's even possible to do this or if I should just go monk.

You need improved unarmed combat feat or every unarmed attack you make will provoke attacks of opportunity. You also won't get any damage die increases so your base damage will be 1d4. You won't get flurry of blows which means you will get less attacks per round as a full attack.

But so long as you have an amulet of mighty fists +1and improved unarmed combat feat you can punch the bad guys, Amulet of might fists +1 will make your unarmed (and natural weapon attacks although you cannot use them in the same round) magical. A +3 amulet will cause your attacks to be considered silver/cold iron for defeating DR, +4 your attacks will be considered adamantite for bypassing DR, and +5 they will be considered aligned (good/evil/lawful/chaotic) for bypassing DR.

So long as you have improved unarmed combat and enough BAB (base attack bonus) you will qualify for many of the unarmed combat style feats.

Not optimal but it is doable.

If you have the latest DLC you also might want to take a look at the Rageshaper Shifter.
They are essentially a punching barbarian.
