Improved Unarmed Strike coup de grace?
Does it work?

Running a Kineticist as my main, with the shaman lady having the Slumber Hex.

So~ has come up a few times that it's impractical to switch weapons to a dagger and still get the coup off due to positioning. So was wondering if burning a feat for Unarmed is worth it + eventually Crane Style?

Imp. Unarmed strike is worth it just for Crane style if you expect ever to be near front lines (or don't have the power or plan to stop a backline charge from berserker type mobs) It isn't worth it for coup de grace lol.

You can also get Improved unarmed strike from the Oblate background Acolyte iirc or one of them and not blow a feat on it. Note Crane for non-monk also requires dodge which typically requires 13 dex as well. This is the other reason monk dip dominates the game beyond their +wis/cha armor bonus so you can skip all that for crane.

It should work but I don't think a non-monk even with IUS can dish out enough damage barehanded to trigger the instant kill from coup de grace, epsecially on demons with a lot of HP.
You're better off using another char, it's a party of 6, surely you have some armed warrior in there.

Yes, it does work with Unarmed Strikes, but I wouldn't recommend it unless your character does enough damage with Unarmed Strikes (like most Monks) to make a Coup de Grace successful.
