Then there's the classical movie samurai with a katana. There are only two weapons that are somewhat close to katanas in Wrath: the dueling sword, and ECB. Unless you want to RP your samurai as an aldori, ECB is the better weapon. Thematically, a sword saint with ECB is probably the most fun katana samurai role play. Sword Saint is also quite the self-sufficient character; a 2H fighter will need buff support.
If you want to go mounted melee, then sohei / cavalier with a glaive.
Fighter (preferably mutagen) 5, training/focus in elven curved blade.
Sohei 15.
Voila you have a devestatingly powerful build. Your question might be what mythic path. Well trickster isn't really a theme for a samurai in my opinion. I think aoen suits it well with the neutrality. Angel coming in second, and legend third.
That said, the samurai class actually exists in pathfinder. It's a hybrid between a cavalier and a ranger (minus the spells), you get the order, challenge, banner, mount from cavalier and the weapon expertise from the ranger (you can choose your fighting style between bow, naginata and katana)
So the most acturate way to make a samurai would be a cavalier/ranger specced in either dueling sword (closest weapon to the pathfinder katana), bow or glaive (which is the closest to the naginata).
Yeah, actually, if I'm gonna be a half-elf fantasy samurai, the beast rider subclass of the Cavalier could be way cool! I could ride a Smilodon!
So I'm now a beast rider, lvl 6, I'll be able to ride my Smilodon next level. Chose Great Sword as a weapon, at least for now. The character is a very lawful and actually follows the ways of Erastil, because she has spent the first years with humans in a small village.
Now, is there any sense for me to multiclass this, with say, the sacred huntsman? I could, of course, multiclass with ranger too, as said in a comment above. Will any dip really give me any advantage?
