How do you beat swarms (core difficulty) chapter 3+?
My usual strategy of throwing bombs on midgame/lategame swarm enemies is proving ineffective. At least, the dps I'm throwing at them is less than the dps they're returning.

What's the go-to strategy for killing swarms mid to late game?
As, it seems, the early game bomb throwing strategy is not working anymore.

Granted, my main team doesn't really have any aoe casters. I miss Jubilost :C.
Mayhaps I should turn Woljif or someone into an alchemist? xD.

I use Ember with Fire Storm, but if you don't have casters, just equip the amulets that allow you to do full weapon damage to swarms. You get a few from Ulbrik's side mission, and can buy more in the village there I think.

Fire/Hellfire Ray on Ember. Using metamagic rods.

Blade Barrier level 6 cleric spell kills every swarm on unfair and below (almost everything else too). Including The Other. So powerful that you cannot bolster, empower and maximize it (you could in Kingmaker). You can highten it though. Selective and Completely normal spell work too.

You can place as many as you are able to in one place. Casting too many could be an overkill. To those unfamiliar with the spell you cast them before the fight begins. Never in the middle of the fight.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the "Bane of Spirit" ring that you can craft with the phylactery of Stevanius the Rotten. You get the phylactery from act 2 crusades, and you can start the decree at the beginning of act 3. The ring lets you sacrifice some health to convert your damage to sonic for 1 round as a free action, which allows you to do unreduced damage to swarms.

This. Take the ring, went to mount doom not that ring, use it on cavalier.
Spirited charge everything to death. Ghost, swarm, whatever you name it.
Especially the buffalo spirits, whom immune to almost everything.

Thanks everyone for the tips!

I had a sonic quiver that I equipped to Lann and that made mince work of the swarms.

I'm ways away from crafting the bane spirit ring.
Woljif has rat catcher goggles on.

I have Sosiel as my cleric, not sure he can learn that spell but I'll check!

Else, my team at the moment is Seelah, Umbridge, MC (Oracle-nature/battle), Sosiel, Nenio, and Lann. I would have Ember > Nenio, but the fox needed to go out for a walk xD.

I play in real time: Spam fire balls with at least two casters while running around with one character to distract the swarms. Other characters can throw AOE dmg bombs. The first mithic attack you get can also damage swarms (at least the Azata one).

another one is the Red Salamander ring. It will give even controlled fireball to a spontaneous caster. Which an Oracle is, also both ember and daeran can use it.

Sound Burst, Shout, Stormbolts, Color Spray (vs many, but not all) stunlock swarms.

Works even on the nasty HD27 vescavors with over 600HP:

Bane of Spirit lets you deal full damage with weapons.

You're right. I got sonic and force jumbled because I was also going to suggest shout.

Either use area spells like sirocco or reactive spells like necrotic shield etc...

You can also Nauseate them - a simple use of Stinking Cloud :)

Nothing wrong with sonic damage - on Unfair, I go Thundering Blows first for all melee characters, the best I have seen all game is incorporeal enemies get .5 vs sonic - nothing, and I mean nothing, is immune to sonic in this game.

Sorry but I am not going to buy more DLC until Owlcat fix these terrible mechanics.
