Can you be Neutral aligned as a Lich?
IE, not evil? Like, LN, N, or CN?

Any mythic path can be N, including Lich. You even get a unique experience out of it if you choose Pharasma as deity. Makes for a very flavorful playthrough.

Can confirm. been playing a True Neutral Pharasma Cleric Lich.

I am honestly amazed Pharasma hasn't taken my powers away at this point. Lots of mentions of tasting graveyard soil and stepping on scarabs tho.

I went with the god of magic as my patron, so I don't imagine he'll judge.

Hmm, at one point your master will require you to shift alignment to evil, and propose a quick way to do so. This is just one check at a certain point of the story so I was able to shift back to Lawful neutral after that. I don't know how that plays out when further along the path.

Neat!

that guide says not to bring Staunton into the midnight Fane. What happens if you bring Staunton into the Midnight Fane?

Was thinking it'd be neat to bring him along to re-introduce him to Minago...

So, I did do one thing the guide said not to already. I killed that one inquisitor after I learned he's the one who set fire to the little girl elf who tags along with me.

Guy had it coming.

This has always struck me as one of the strangest constantly asked things I see regarding WotR

Completely ignoring gameplay reasoning for it, it's like...

"Is there a way that I can forcibly bind the souls of the slain back to their rotting corpses against their will and shackle their being to this plane of existence, thus forcing them into eternal servitude that will only ever end when I decree it so, but in, like, a NICE way?"

It's like people are more bothered by being mean/rude than they are forcing the unwilling into servitude and denying them their rest

Bro you're a LICH, not an arch-lich

Killing Hulrun is absolutely NOT an evil or even neutral action lmfao dude's an incompetent menace whose true colors show just by talking to Irabeth, Anevia, and even the moron himself

Well, pulling off a neutral aligned lich WOULD make you an arch-lich (dumb name D&D gave that, by the by. Makes it sound like a super lich, when the DEMI lich is actually the super lich).

I mean if you go forceful about it yea. A lot of options also include raising soulless, mindless unded as cannon fodder, OR making agreements with soldiers before death to bring them back as the undead, so they can continue the fight even after a fatal wound.

AFAIK with exception to the (three) undead companions, every undead in my army matches one of those two descriptions.

There's definitely a way to do non-evil necromancer in a well constructed narrative. I can't comment for THIS game, but I will say for anyone who wants a truly neutral necromancer, play Heroes IV. Gauldoth Half-Dead remains one of my favorite characters in a fantasy setting specifically for this reason.
Notable accomplishments for his rule: any villager willing to become an undead is immediately given sums of gold to their next of kin/family for their sacrifice. In addition, he intentionally leaks to a neighboring faction about a weakness in their defenses that he could have exploited to conquer them, rather than just going around conquering everyone, he attempts to play diplomacy instead to avoid starting all out wars.

I mean the guide says what happens. Someone there won't understand and forces your hand into doing an Evil thing. Totally against what the guide wants you to be doing.

But if you do it anyway, rather than her upgrading the Radiance to a Holy Avenger, you can corrupt it.Which is a very Evil, not nice thing to do. You monster.

In the pathfinder setting, creating undead is inherently evil, so while your alignment might be able to go up to neutral via your actions, everything on that path is slanted towards evil.

Not debating if pathfinder is right or not, just commenting that a pathfinder game will always tied the undead and evil together. They have a line in the sand and undead are exclusively evil.
