When are you going to fix the commander's banner bug?
It has been a little more than a month since the last patch and the banner bug (some companions keep the buff even in the abyss and others don't) is still in the game. After doing some research on the internet the bug has been in the game for a long while, so long in fact that some people are not even sure if is a bug or intended.
I really want to finish this game but having more than half of my companions with buggy permanent and growing fast healing is not how I want to play this game, or in the weird case that it's actually intended to have the buff for the whole game after getting it, it would be nice if all my party could have it so at least it's consistent.

I'd prefer they fix the parts that make entire feats useless or the game breaking bugs first, just saying. Oh no, there's a bug that gives me fast healing....such a shame in a game where the game itself constantly cheats....

I'm just mentioning one bug that has been months in the game. I'm sure there are many more and that is the point of it all, isn't it?
Are they going to fix their old game or are they gonna jump ship to the new one (Rogue Trader)? There are two DLCs left so I had a bit of hope that they are gonna keep patching and polishing WotR at least until they are done with that, but now I have my doubts.
Why should I keep buying games from them if they abandon them the moment they announce their next game?
I like their games, with flaws and all, however, they are not giving me much reason to be invested in their company if they are not interested in fixing old bugs at all.

I'm going to be realistic and say fixing bugs at this point is going to take a backseat to company profits for a new game. I did note they patched some minor things relatively recently- the smithy and arsenal descriptions did not seem to match the effects. The arsenal would say it added to AC of units, while the description suggested it made weapons, and vice versa. Although I'm skeptical either of these actually does anything- I can't seem to get champions' AC over 10...

On the other hand, yeah, I see your point. It's hard to be invested when they aren't. Maybe, if they're a smaller studio, they should focus on not making games that take 100+ hours a playthrough?
Brak Sep 6, 2023 @ 1:39pm
Yes, I understand is unrealistic, but they are the ones who decided to make a second season pass, so I don't think is unreasonable to wish for bug fixing.
To be honest I don't think I have ever checked if any of the stat-raising buildings are doing anything. To my knowledge, there is no straightforward way of checking what building is affecting what unit and I don't care enough to manually count all my buildings and then do the math with the units. But I had similar bugs when an ability/item didn't do what it was supposed to do and as far as I know, those haven't been fixed either.

I guess the healthiest thing to do is just wait until the next patch (or DLC, whatever comes first) and see if updating the engine actually paid off and they finally fix some month-old bugs, if not I'll simply stop buying their games. I don't want to spend money to see if I'm lucky enough to not run into a bug that they will never fix during my first 100+ hours of playthrough.

You can also write a negative review. Judging by how the 'spyware' story went, that's a metric that can influence their business decisions.

doubt that would really work for "bug fixing"...

the best thing for fixing bugs is for ppl to send the report in game to them so they can see whats wrong.... the more ppl send the more data they can pull from and isolate the issue...

also other issues could be delaying it as well outside of the normal operations.... I mean they are split working on this game AND rogue trader sure... but there are also strikes going on in the hollywood scene with writers and voice actors that could be playing a role as well... so that could be why DLC is delayed too...

Right now quality is just not a priority for the devs from what I can see. It can only change if some connection between quality / sales manifests.

im sure its on their "list" of things to do... just I imagine that there are other things that are probably "higher" priority right now.... I mean they are still working on 2 other parts to the season pass 2 DLC for instance... if they have limited staff i'd imagine they would be focusing on the DLC than minor bugs that work in favor of the player...

I'm sure a lot of people have reported the bug, it's a well-known bug from what I could find on the internet.
I understand that is unrealistic to want them to fix a "minor" no-game-breaking bug right away and I agree, I'm sure they are more serious bugs to take care of, however, like I said before, this is a months-old bug. There is a limit on how much time they can ignore a bug no matter how small it is, they should have enough data to figure it out by now. So I can only be disheartened knowing that they don't care enough to fix it now that their new game is on the horizon.

If nothing changes I'll write a negative review, stop buying their games, and go on with my life. There are plenty of games to play in this day and age.

its not that abnormal with them.... I mean ive had game since launch pretty much.... there were bugs fixes over time of course but some were later than others to get fixed.... and even then some things we thought were meant to be "features" were actually bugs all along....

for example treasure of the midnight isles gave us broken trickster at last island of the first set... DLC came out in like August 2022... yet we didnt learn till early this year when they patched it out of the campaign that is was meant to be only for the standalone portion of the DLC because it was considered too OP for campaign.... of course they listened to feedback and added it back into the game not long after but still.... thats like 6 months before they "fixed" it....

also its not a major gaming company.... according to google they have like 120 employees across different countries.... and the only other game they made besides this one they no longer have the rights to.... so revenue wise its obvious they would have to start working on a new game to help keep their employees... well employed.... so more resources are im sure being devoted to the new game.... so the important parts of this game are im sure fixing critical bugs as highest priority.... then working on the DLC for this game since ppl have already paid for the content afterall as second highest priority... and im sure fixing bugs that benefit the player is on the lowest of priorities....

now if this were a major AAA gaming company with thousands of employees and tons of games under their belt and revenue to keep everything afloat... then yeah i'd share your view on leaving bad reviews or something.... but its not... so im willing to be more patient with them over little things like this...

I understand your points but I respectfully disagree. They are the ones who decided to keep supporting this game for longer and they are the ones who decided to make 100+ hours long games with 120 employees. If they can't keep up with bug fixing maybe they should scale down the scope of their games of hire more people.
I only mentioned this bug because I'm experiencing it and because it has been in the games for months. I'm sure there are people who are dealing with other month-old bugs that are of no benefit to the player. My complaint is not about just the bug, but about how long it takes them to fix "minor" bugs.
No game is worth waiting 6 months for bug fixing, that's ridiculous.

when they started the kickstarter for this game it was early 2020.... like right before the lockdowns started.... then the whole war thing started after that not long after... and the economy is still hurting from both... and they no longer have rights to the only other game they made.... so only way for them to make money is to either sell more of this game or make another game and add to their library of games to generate more revenue...

which seems like they tried to with this game... Appsflyer app was meant to help them learn how to advertise this game better in order to sell more copies... which would have probably allowed them to hire more ppl to help "fix" the issues with this game faster.... they spent money on paying for the app and ended up removing it without able to utilize it... so a loss of more money for the company....

so with all that and the fact the devs come on here and do respond to issues... im more lenient with them.... yeah ive had to wait a few months for some bugs to be fixed that were more critical for my builds.... but given the back to back circumstances and the Devs attitude towards the fans im more lenient with them than I would a AAA gaming company that has access to more resources...

Dude is like you're trying to guildtrip me into feeling bad for having a reasonable complaint about a flawed game that I enjoy and I wish the devs did better in some aspects.
Yes, we all had it rough because of the state of the world, some more than others but this is not a competition.
The appsflyer app fiasco was a mistake on their part and they admit it, so I don't know why the fact that they lost money on a badly executed move means I shouldn't complain.
Yes, their attitude is better than AAA studios, which is why calling out on slowly growing bad behavior is good so that they don't end up like them.

All in all, I don't think any excuse invalidates criticism. Yes, circumstances make us more lenient and understand why things are the way they are, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't hold them to some kind of standard.

im not trying to guilt trip ya man.... im just trying to look at it from multiple perspectives.... like I said I had to wait a while before for bugs or fixes that were part of my character build to be fixed... so I know what its like....

as for the Appsflyer.... yeah the fans labeled it "spyware".... even I was hesitant when they first put it in.... but when I dug into it apparently it was an app that lot of major companies like Amazon and Google use.... its supposed to figure out where the target audience is so they can advertise more effectively with ads and make more sales.... when they installed it they were looking at it from the lens that it was gonna boost sales for this game so they wouldnt have to rely so much on their next game rogue trader.... if they bumped up sales here then they could have spent that extra money devoting more time to this game.... but the fans saw it as "spyware" and didnt trust it at all... despite the fact that other companies use it without telling the customers and not really a global outcry over them doing it for far longer than Owlcat ever did...

Im all for negative reviews if the game warrants it.... I mean things like what Cyberpunk 2077 and no mans sky did for instance with making promises of features that never were true in order to get ppl to buy... if those games instead went into early access instead as the "final product" i'd be more lenient of course....

but in the case with this game.... what would a "negative review" do to help make it better?.... a negative review would just encourage ppl to not buy the game and thus less revenue for the company and less people would be devoted to this game and possibly relocated to working more on the newer game that would make them more money... I mean this cow's already been milked I imagine quite a bit and appsflyer was their chance to help squeeze out more milk from this.... and of course could end up delaying the bugs being fixed even more as a result... which is something neither of us would want... I mean its an ambitious company doing ambitious work.... 194 classes... 13 advanced classes... and 10 mythic classes to balance out.... gaming companies nowadays struggle to balance far far less than that number lol.... I want them to succeed...

the best thing that would help is to just send in bug reports.... the more ppl who send the more data they can pull from on how to fix it... and from the looks of the forums not many people are griping about it as much as others ive seen.... which also Devs that pop on here and see our comments usually have to pass it along to the Devs that are doing the work on fixing things... so sending in bug reports with the details AND popping on here like your doing is the best way to get their attention to fix it.... though think its one of those lower priority things that might just be in a big patch down the road...

About the app, I'm not gonna pretend like I know how it works, so I'll not attack it or defend it. I honestly think if they had been more open about it and let the players accept it or reject it they would avoided the whole problem. In the end, it was a communication error on their part. I took no part in that outrage because when I connected to steam that day it was already over.

I don't believe one more negative review will encourage people to not buy it (especially after the appsflyer fiasco), but someone from the dev team might read my complaint and that is what I want. You're acting like one more negative review will bankrupt the company, That will not happen, nor I'll write the negative review right now, like I said I'll wait a little longer to see what it's in the next patch.

I have sent bug reports, yet as far as I can read in the patch notes none of them as been fixed (with the exception of one game crashing one that was caused by the previous patch, but we are talking about waiting too long to fix "minor" bugs, they do fix the mayor bugs fast and I appreciate that) and I have been lenient about them because they are more item/class specific and I get those must not be high on their priority list, however, I'm starting to get tired, especially about the more general "minor" bugs that affect the whole playthrough and not just one build.
