I've done it once or twice when it got "stuck" and this seemed to unstick it, but I can't think of a regularly occurring reason to switch back and forth.
for me, it gets stuck quite often
also, i started switching to rtwp after getting that undead cloak in the prison dungeon
The one that makes all enemies flee in every direction possible if they are within 50 feet of you if they fail will save
turns out that's a lot of them, at least on daring difficulty
ye, not chasing them all over the place in turn based
On Core this cloak is still quite effective on Angel Path (due to Angel's saves dropping aura) and great for parties built around AoOs. It also has very nice synergy with this bow:

+ Snap Shot line.
i honestly like / enjoy turn based mode.
I only play in turn mode and didn't notice any bugs either before or after the last update.
I noticed after the patch that the setting 'interrupt movement' is not functioning as expected much of the time. It will stop your movement properly, but eats your action which doesn't allow you to do an action making said option useless. This seems to be because the meter is wrong following the patch and it will 'eat' your action at about 75% through the movement bar.
Other times without even moving attacking/casting will not be possible and the cursor doesn't change.
Also, there are times where you cannot target enemies for some reason. The cursor just doesn't select them.
All of the above are why I would swap to RT back to turn based which tends to resolve the problem for a little while. Prior to the patch some of these happened, but it was pretty rare, now its happening MULTIPLE times in the same dungeon (in this case The Midnight Fane for me)
The most common source of not being able to do something is the game hanging while trying to add something to the turn order mid combat, such as a summon, or reinforcements, or an enemy that was initially too far away, but you got closer/hit it, so now it's in combat. Most of the time there is any kind of hanging for any reason, pressing Esc to bring up the game menu while fix it when you close that. I've only had two occasions where I had to switch to RTWP and back to fix something.
There is another bug I've seen both in this and in Kingmaker, where if something gets summoned, sometimes the turn order is completely reset, and sometimes only partially. For example, let's say you're underground at the beginning of the game, Lann and Wenduag take their turns, the MC comes up, summons a dog or whatever, the dog's initiative goes, and suddenly it's Wenduag's turn again, followed by the MC, and then Seelah finally getting her first turn.
I think turn-based just has some fundamental bugs, but unless they are 100% game breaking, I have absolutely zero faith in Owlcat fixing it.
You constantly make this claim, regardless of the fact that Table Top IS by it's nature turn based, and Wrath was turn based from day 1.
While Kingmaker was initially released without Turn Based play, the designers saw both the desire and benefit of adding it in later on.
But you go right ahead contorting reality to match your belief that turn based play is inferior and anyone that uses it has no idea what they are doing.
So far, the only real new bug I noticed since last patch is the Double Weapon issue which makes using Regill gnome hooked hammer for instance not granting secondary hand attacks. I heard pets were broken too but since I have not noticed yet.
Considering the number of options, items, spells and skills you can pick while fighting, I really believe that people who play in real-time are missing on a LOT of stuff that you can easily micromanage when playing Turn Based ( splitting your team, setting up ambushes, carefully placing things on the map, analyzing calmly every single attack that happens in the logs like playing chess and etc...
I would never play in real-time. I did it with Baldurs Gate 2 way back then but I always found it clunky and stressful. Thank you so much OWLcat for a great Turn Based combat system!
