Touch Healing spells don't work
New to this forum and, having had a glance, I can see that others have had this problem. If there was a patch fix, it hasn't worked for me. Can I ask, Owlcat, whether you can fix this problem (hopefully sooner). This is, otherwise, an amazing game which I love (having played Kingmaker, loving that, and just starting this). Healing is an essential part of the game so it would make a big difference if it was fixed. Otherwise, thanks for a brilliant game.

Elaborate more pls. You have told your life’s story and yet you did not tell us how that the touch healing spells do not work like it is a national disaster

Having encountered this multiple times in the last week I can confirm the same. Often when the healer needs to move (even a short distance) to touch the target the spell slot is consumed but the spell doesn't fire. (I'm playing in turn based mode if that makes a difference)

Well, don't you enjoy sarcasm. What life story? You know nothing about me. I've read a couple of posts aggravated by this issue and thought instead of adding to that , I'd give Owlcat their due bar this one issue. The healing spells don't function. I can cast them and the graphics work but the spell does not materialise - that is there are no (zero) effects on the recipient. I have tried being close by. I have tried different cure spells (light and moderate). I have tried different casters (game and merc). The healing spells don't work. It would be nice if this was sorted out.

The fast ressurection has the same problem, had to ditch that spell because of that.

When this bug happens the spell isn't consumed but your turn does get wasted. If you click the tab that houses all your passive toggle abilities like fight defensivly power attack etc you can find your touch spell that your character failed to discharge and use it next turn. Still an embarrasing bug that has existed since release that needs to be fixed and i won't be buying another Owl Cat game again in the near future. It's ridiculous how long it takes them to fix even the gameplay ruining bugs that happen consistently i have experienced this bug not only since launch but in Kingmaker as well.

I have no issues. In tunbased comabat the spell is stored under abilities and you can cast it from there in the next turn if you have not enough actions/movement left. This is the same with every touch spell or ability.

I find it hard to believe you havn't experienced the issue i'm pretty confident you either have had it happen to you and didn't know what was going on mechanically or are lieing because literally everyone i know that plays this game in turnbased that has played in the past week knows that this bug has gotten worst. If you still have not moved when you cast any touch spell not just healing you are supposed to be able to cast the spell, move your full movement allowance and then discharge the touch on any target within 5 feet of you. When the bug happens your character will cast the spell move like 1 inch then stop wasting the movement and making the character forget that they are supposed to be able to discharge the touch spell as a free action.

This mechanic exist so that you can safely cast touch based spells out of attack of opportunity range, then get close enough to use them and actually use them on the same turn. This is important for any healer that isn't going to be getting concentration if they want to heal a target in a melee especially against enlarged enemies or enemies with reach weapons.

I have been playing the game for one year now, I never experienced this bug or any other bugs

You should go buy a lottery ticket with that luck assuming you are telling the truth. The healing bug isn't even the worst bug i experienced with this game. Well actually it's more accurate to say the touch bug because it can happen with offensive touch spells too if you cast them from a distance with the intent to move then discharge them. On my first playthrough at some point during the gargoyle abduction and rescue sequence before you retake Kenebras Ember and Darean got some sort of hidden buff that effectively made them immortal and it would not go away. Their HP could never fall below 1 and they could never get KOed. I had to download the bag of tricks mod so i could manually remove the buff so i could play the game without immortal characters that i could have used to trivialize the entire thing.

I thought I was losing my mind, yeah if you manually target touch healing while out of range for some reason the game will mostly think you don't have enough movement and store if for next turn, it's very very frustrating

You misunderstood me. I had never meant that you were telling lies. I was just stating that I had never seen bugs 🐛
Cheers mate

you know what bugs I miss?... the ones in lepers smile first time... it made the whole event so unique... now all I see is clear skies.... with a chance of raining bodies...

This is an annoying bug. To circumvent it always make sure you move your character into healing range BEFORE healing.
Immortal Reaver Aug 18, 2023 @ 10:22am
It is TB mode only bug. If you use RTwP you never encounter it.
If you move to or are already close target then cast the spell, you will also never encounter it.

I think it is hard to fix because it was hardcoded to work precisely this way for RTwP when TB mode was not on table. And getting fix around that, so it works only in TB mode is finnicky at best.
