All is not forgiven
It seems like there's a new scandal with Owlcat every few months. Remember when they forced ads into the game for a different game before this one was even done? If these are the things they're being caught doing, what are they doing that we don't know about? I think it's reasonable to fear all your passwords are going to end up on a Cyrillic Pastebin.

I think this is getting a little too overblown, you dont need appflyer in reality to even ransomware your computer. I think OwlCat should just have warned users and ask conscent to allow or disallow the use of that third party software.
If OwlCat wanted they could even have used native APIs to gather that information and send it annonymously to their servers and then re-send that info to appFlyer without the users even knowing what is happening, unless someone did a reverse-engineering processes or a wireshark TCP analysis. Something that is beyond reach of 95% of the people who own the game.

As a community we should just ask to allow us to deactivate such tracking measures, perhaps we a little bit of transparency a user might accept that appflyer data gathering with a good terms of use and legal responsability and get some reward like early access to rogue trader.

This. Except, I think it's probably more like 99.5% : )

(I certainly know I don't know how to do that...)

This response would be okay but they already broke the trust and potentially some laws and now are asking for forgiveness. They did this to themselves.

What I just find incredible, is just how can they not see this coming? Review bombing after an EULA-gift from the developer is tradition on Steam

It speaks to how out of touch they are with their players. Only a few companies can get away with this level of scummy and have the players not revolt: EA (sometimes), Paradox Interactive, and whoever makes those Evony games.
