I can say bad things about Wotr optimization in general (getting sometimes fps drop from 60 to 4 in level-up screen, inventory screen etc.), but it NEVER ever crashed. Same was in Kingmaker.
Hope Rogue Trader will be as crash stable as those two, but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ inventory and character screen fps drops are annoying and need optimizing.
Consider downvolting a bit. Everyone should do it technically, make your card run at 90 percent power- does wonders for temp issues.
Also then you can cap the game to say 80 FPS and within a lower temp threshold and max settings, and card stays within reasonable temps. I don't have any stability issues either.
It's not hard to do with a GPU manager like Afterburner.
Not sure why the cards are factory set to go balls to the wall out of the box. Maybe if your card burns out quicker, more money for the GPU people.
Less power wont hurt your card either if you're worried about that.
Yeah if your temp is that low it's not the GPU
Maybe your CPU needs some new thermal paste? Not sure what kind of cooling you have on it but doesn't make sense especially stumped now that you say you're not having issues with anything else.
Does your PC use the Nahimic audio in the background? Its known to cause issues with many apps. That or maybe another app is causing a conflict
Can you list your specs? E.g. mine
3800XT CPU
6700XT GPU
32GB DDR4 (at 3600mhz)
B450 board
Any overclock's happening? CPU/GPU/RAM?
I know you've noted other games are stable and just this one crashes. Not sure if you play other Unity based games, they hate memory overclocks or flaky RAM. You could try something like memtest86 (you download it and use something like RUFUS to make a bootable USB stick out of it)... that will test your RAM outside of Windows, run it overnight and see if you get any errors. If you do that would be why the game is crashing.
You'd need to consult your BIOS manual but if your RAM isn't 100% stable then you could reduce the speed it's running at or make the timings looser (usually a CL rating, lower is faster, and higher is slower).
You could also try giving your RAM a tiny bit more voltage in the BIOS (one step, whatever the minimum is will be something like 0.1v). Could even be worth trying this temporarily just to see if it makes any difference, a little more volts often stops stability issues, albeit at the expense of slightly less lifespan on your RAM and slightly more heat produced.
GPU - Radeon RX 5700 XT
RAM - 32GB DDR4 3000
MB - Asrock X99 Extreme4
HD - OS on 256GB SSD, Game on 1TB SSD
Nothing is overclocked, and I in fact tried underclocking the GPU (no change). I've tried a fresh reboot and a fresh reboot with everything non-critical nuked (task manager, end-task).
AV is set to disabled when gaming. Pretty much the only thing open is SteelSeriesGG software for spatial audio. And now that I say that, I am going to try killing that and seeing if there is a change. Its the last thing I can think of.
Trying the mem test today when I head out for some meat shopping, its time to fire up the smoker and smoke some MEATS! Also trying the memory overvolting to see if that helps.
Looking at what you've already tried I only have 1 weird suggestion I can think of to try. Perhaps try turning off cloud saves. Maybe some way your game is communicating with Steam's cloud service is causing issues for the game. It's a long shot for sure
You sure everything else is working fine?
