Regretting path on animal companion, any way to change?
Long story short, i'm playing Lich. and a mix of Lich companions and Dahmpir mercs make a pretty cool party. But one of those companions has a horse, a horse which is NOT Deathtouched, meaning it's the only one that doesn't get healed from channel negative energy.

I could probably fix this by retraining that companion for another go at the horse buuuutt... i'm playing on core difficulty and retraining isn't available.

It's a small thing, so not the end of the world, but it is a minor regret. So with that said, is there any mod out there that i can install to retrain the horse and then uninstall the mod without consequence?

The smaller the mod the better ideally. i just want to get in, do the thing i need to do, and get out. so no a fan of big things like Toybox.

Or you can just turn on the option to retrain.

Can you do that mid-save? I was under the impression that once you set your settings at the start of the game, you were stuck with them.

No, you can change them but that will block you from getting Core difficulty achievements even if you change them back.

Yeah, when you make that change, your game difficulty becomes custom. You can always change it again after you retrain to whatever you like.

Now i'm mad because this one tiny stupid detail killed my desire to play for the time being XD and google has not found any mods to re-enable Core achievements or change the horse without loosing core, or anything else of the sort.

I'll get over it i'm sure. just heccen annoying when you've got one small thing you want to change, but you can't.

I don't do mods but I would swear people on this forum have mentioned Toolbox enables you to re-enable achievements.

>get barley's respec mod ( https://github.com/BarleyFlour/RespecMod/releases )
>get toybox( https://www.nexusmods.com/pathfinderwrathoftherighteous/mods/8 ) or the standalone achievement enabler mod(think this one is out of date so no link)
>install both via Unity Mod Manager( https://www.nexusmods.com/site/mods/21 )
>enable the setting in toybox to keep getting achievements with mods on
>use barleys respec via UMM's ui (not toybox's respec, use barley's)

it bypasses the normal respec system and as long as you use smth to prevent mods blocking achievements in general you can get your core difficulty achievements

toybox allows you to re-enable achievements that are blocked from using mods, but wont directly let you re-enable difficulty related achievements(it might actually be possible but i wouldnt reccomend it)

I use "Allow moded achivements" ( https://www.nexusmods.com/pathfinderwrathoftherighteous/mods/119 ) with the Unity Mod Manager, will that work? If it does, does that mean i don't need toybox and can just use Barley's?

Will removing those mods once the horse has been changed break anything?

I'm guilty of skipping a lot of this discussion. That said, why are you depressed about this? Lich gets a spell to give companions undead traits. Just cast it on the horse.

i don't think i have that, i'm level 16 right now with my main class being cleric, currently midway through act 4.

that'd just be a temporary change too, wouldn't it?
Raikon Jun 22, 2023 @ 5:37pm
Yes, everytime you rest you'll need to cast it. It doesn't require all this talk of mods, or losing achievements though. I don't remember the spell level.

Looks like the spell is "Blessing of unlife", which is a 7th level spell.

As a cleric, i didn't get to merge my spellbook, so my lich spells only go up to level 5 currently, and AFAIK they only go up when i gain a new mythic rank.
Raikon Jun 22, 2023 @ 6:20pm
A delay, isn't a failure though. Although I had assumed you were an arcane caster. Act 4 isn't long though, and you basically get two mythic levels back to back after act 4.
