Pillar of Life

Hi people, sorry dumb question but I wonder how to use my pillar of life?

" You conjure a pillar of positive energy in a single 5-foot square within range that radiates light as if it were a sunrod. Living creatures adjacent to the pillar can spend a standard action to touch the pillar and heal 2d8 points of damage + 1 point per caster level (maximum +20). "

But I don't see any option to "touch" it .

You have to either run through it/into it or cast it on a target. Note it will work only 1 time/character regardless of Pillar's duration. it can also be Maximized with metamagic (feat or rod).

In general, it doesn't make much sense to pick it for spontaneous casters; for non-spontaneous like Sosiel it can be contextually good early game.

Thanks! Yeah, I just was thinking in casting it at the start of the fight when healer doesn't have anything to heal.
